  1. There was some talk about her on the Over the Monster web site. (BTW I recommend that site to any Talksox poster. It's right up our alley.) There was some questioning of whether her record is that exceptional. https://www.overthemonster.com/2023/9/22/23885149/kim-ng-for-president-of-baseball-operations
  2. I assume you've read my comments on the contract. Unfortunately, to me it looks like the scouts who said it was a major overpay were right. I'm pretty sure Bloom projected a higher OBP and SLG than we're getting for the money. It's possible a lot of the falloff came from fatigue and he'll do better next year. We have to hope so.
  3. It's amusing how little response there is to threads like this. Folks would rather spend pages arguing about some dead horse issue LOL For me the useful thing here is that we get 3 different WAR scores for each pitcher. fWAR and bWAR plus dWAR - Deserved Run Average.
  4. The only team I can think of that might trade for him is the Angels.
  5. Definitely one of the most pointless discussion points. It's right up there with "No one is untouchable. I'd trade anyone if the return is right."
  6. The #5 slot is usually pretty fungible...
  7. I thought a bullpen champion like yourself might vote for Martin.
  8. Also true.
  9. Concur. That was bonehead management.
  10. They could have tried a pre-emptive strike with Bogaerts instead.
  11. I think I would too.
  12. But now look at how many MLB innings each of those pitchers pitched in 2022.
  13. Which is what a lot of fans figured, and it didn't make them calm at all.
  14. This kind of stuff probably happens a lot. As I recall there was something similar with Freeman after he signed with the Dodgers.
  15. I agree with notin and "modest effort". There has to be some responsibility to the game.
  16. Let's face it, we're always grasping for things to blame failure on.
  17. And if Pablo and Hanley and Rusney kicked butt, maybe Cherington would still be CBO.
  18. Except he kept getting hurt.
  19. Like I said, a combination of things.
  20. His .640 OPS in August and .641 in September have contributed to the offensive slide. That's indisputable fact.
  21. The frustrating part is how much the offense went in the tank. Losing Duran and then Casas, Turner getting banged up, Story and Yoshida not doing much. At least the kids are hitting a little. Just another fustercluck of a season. Back-to-backers.
  22. We're not sure exactly what doomed him. Probably a combination of things. The knock on him being indecisive does seem very credible.
  23. Like I say, I think it's all on ownership.
  24. I get what you're saying. But sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The Yankees converted King from relief to starting and he's been doing very well. The Red Sox evaluation and coaching of pitchers remains very suspect. This year we saw Littell and Brasier go to other teams and succeed.
