  1. Whose back did he stab?
  2. He has now seen the light.
  3. Not much influence on the spending plans, apparently.
  4. Yeah, exactly. I'm supportive of world peace forever.
  5. Brez already said no full time DH. I'd take him at his word on that.
  6. Per Peter Abraham: Sox are still engaged with FAs Adam Duvall and Justin Turner. Might just mean they're still on speaking terms LOL
  7. But if they spent more and/or spent better the last few years they could have made the playoffs in 21, 22 and 23. If not, why fire Bloom?
  8. If it wasn't for the PR aspect, I'd be greatly in favor of signing Clevinger.
  9. I will be so surprised if they sign Clevinger.
  10. What about his numbers as a starter in September?
  11. Ownership reportedly thinks highly of him. But the really interesting thing was Cora's comments about how Sox fans don't care about the rating of the farm system, they care about playing in October. His comments seemed part and parcel of the 'full throttle' promise. There was also lots of speculation that he's destined for a front office job at some point.
  12. Comic exaggeration. I don't really think Henry is homicidal.
  13. Seems a tad contradictory, because Dombrowski was obviously hired to spend, trade, and win it all. Mission accomplished...and...fired. As for Bloom, he was hired to build the farm, trim the payroll, and keep the team somewhat competitive. Mission accomplished...and...fired. Henry is basically a serial ax murderer at this point.
  14. This is the thing - we're not that far away. All the more reason to give it that little extra push. No excuse for not doing so.
  15. Yeah, 2020 was the one season we could approve a tank job, I think.
  16. All we really have are the rumors that DD wasn't being a team player with the rest of the FO. (mvp had a nugget that DD didn't want Sam Kennedy included in the baseball meetings.) Maybe DD didn't trust their acumen very much...
  17. That or MiserableOldPrickia.
  18. Why, what happens if you go over the luxury tax line a little? And what's wrong with having an 84 win team in the World Series? Does that really qualify as a problem? The approach has become a little too tempered for the third richest team in the game. There's a fine line between a tempered approach and fattening the bottom line.
  19. DD said Henry never offered a single word of explanation as to why he was let go, didn't speak to him at all when he was fired or since.
  20. I agree with you 100%. The Boston Red Sox should not be giving seasons away. They all count equally. With the expanded playoffs and 84 win teams in the World Series, there's less excuse than ever for punting.
  21. And he's still doing it with the Phils. There are pluses and minuses to his approach, but his career resume is pretty freakin' good.
  22. When I say 'to fruition' I mean the time until the pitchers are posting 3-4 WAR seasons in MLB.
  23. Becoming better at drafting and developing pitching is an admirable goal, but one that could take a decade to come to fruition, if it comes to fruition at all. It's not about 82 wins, it's about making the playoffs. We just saw a season where a 90 win team beat an 84 win team in the World Series, so the argument that there's no point going for it unless you're a 95 win team should be dead and buried forever.
  24. Hal has definitely loosened up the purse strings.
