a) Of course Snell and Monty have flaws. They passed or missed on all the other worthwhile options too. c) Next year they'll find reasons not to acquire any of those guys either. Starting with too expensive of course. Plus one or more of them will likely sign extensions.

It only makes sense if the payroll budget for tax purposes this year is in fact etched in stone at let's say 200 million. Which would mean any number of lies about the budget have been told us, of course.

What we'll never know is how many other voices he had in his ear on the buy vs. sell decision, including the voice of the big man. It's quite possible of course that he had to make the decision on his own. According to Werner they don't interfere with their CBO, so I'm sure we can take that to the bank.

I see a problem in not weighting anything, lumping in $10 million contracts with $140 million contracts. It's all academic, of course.

I don't know, I thought Bloom really was trying to do the rebuild but compete thing. He just made some s***** moves, and he got incredibly indecisive at the deadlines. But his offseason moves did make some sense in view of the stated plan.

Not really. The reports of the one year add-on for $30 million to make 4/$90, and the later offer of 6/$162 haven't been disputed AFAIK.

That's right. When Mookie said 'go talk to Bloom' it clearly implied there were further negotiations after Bloom took over - which would also help explain why they waited until February to trade him. Mookie opened multiple cans of worms, and Sox media somehow snoozed on all of it.
