Richards and Perez I were in 2021. They made the playoffs that year and Bloom made other moves which worked. Not sure why you are counting them against him.
According to Alex Speier, the Red Sox are making Mayer, Anthony and Teel off-limits in trade talks. (Duran, Rafaela, Bleis, Houck and others are not off-limits.)
Helps explain why no blockbuster trade is happening.
It's like little by little, Henry is being exposed as the cold-blooded greedy prick we were afraid he might be. We were saved in the past by people around him or working for him, but they're all gone.
I dunno moon, when you look at what's going on, it seems like Bloom did just about what he could be expected to do. He built up the farm, he kept payroll under control. The 2021-2023 teams were all somewhat in the hunt in July.
How much the budget affected some of his choices we'll never know.
But I think there's a strong possibility he was fired just to temporarily appease the fans.
And I feel kind of sorry for Breslow because they're putting him in a s***** position.
To me what's going on this offseason is just kind of stunning. They know the fanbase is pissed, they make a change at CBO, they make promises, then they double down on the tight-fistedness.
Unf***ingbelievable, really.
So what do they do? They replace Bloom with a guy who has a remarkably similar profile, including the ZERO EXPERIENCE AS A CBO.
And apparently, GIVE HIM THE SAME TIGHT BUDGET.
What we might be looking at is a snowballing of mistakes that's only going to get worse.
What they get paid isn't relevant. Red was just joking about it being a way for Henry to save some money instead of saving it by having a s***** baseball team.
One of the accusations against Clevinger was that he choked a woman. Someone is bound to notice that "throttle" can also mean "choke", leading to great hilarity...
It's a credible explanation for the tight-fistedness, and an outrageous one at the same time.
Henry must have unlimited faith in the loyalty of Sox fans.
Clevinger would be an OK get, but the DV stuff would not go over well with a lot of people.
It would be looked on as yet another PR gaffe by our doofus front office.
