  1. Unless you'd actually consider Urias...
  2. You really need to get those voices in your head checked out.
  3. Thinks were so crappy during the years 1980-1985 I was in jeopardy of converting to a Jays fan. That's how bad and how boring it was.
  4. There will never be a full-fledged boycott. But if the team flounders again attendance and viewership will go down.
  5. First we'd have to unravel the riddle of WTF "accept" means in this context. To be a good bullshitter you have to know how to be vague and ambiguous, to say things that can be interpreted any number of ways and let the listener tie themselves in knots trying to decipher it.
  6. True, but we're in the same division and we have a rotation made up of mediocre RH pitchers, so we have a good chance of being a special favorite.
  7. A good question and an uncomfortable one. What will be will be, but yeah, there's definitely a part of me that won't be distraught if the 2024 season is a bomb.
  8. I suspect Gammons's theory will be proven to be true. There's something going on on in a financial way with FSG that we don't know about and that has a lot to do with the payroll trimming.
  9. The Sox FO is one of the biggest clown shows in sports these days. We keep saying it, and they keep proving it. The melange of mixed messages we have received about payroll the last few days has been incredible. Sam's "There will be a day" line is a new highlight for me. It's like his version of "I have a dream"...
  10. One thing we can count on is that Soto will enjoy hitting against the Sox this year.
  11. FWIW Peter Gammons is putting out a bit of a conspiracy theory about FSG having some recent losses that are impacting the Sox. It's great to be part of a conglomerate!
  12. "There will be a day when we match up again on a high profile free agent deal" - Sam the Sham Kennedy

  14. It's almost like they should have hired Breslow as Head of Pitching Ops instead of CBO (and paid him the same money). Because what happens if he does a great job as the former and a bad job as the latter?
  15. I'm not enamored with the Aurilia comp either. This is just a reminder why that's an area of B-R I ignore.
  16. I think a lot of fans are going to have scheduling conflicts this season too.
  17. I don't disagree, but if they don't make any more upgrades this offseason, how does that make Breslow look? I'd call it a pretty freakin' underwhelming first offseason. Some good moves, perhaps, but the starting pitching still looks shaky to say the least...if Giolito bombs it could be a total disaster.
  18. But the brass outside of Henry is going to be there, right?
  19. Will security be tighter than last year?
  20. Crag's already getting the shaft, I fear.
  21. And here's a quote from a different piece from OTM. These guys are on it. Breslow’s shift from focusing on controllable starting pitching (and potentially moving prospects to do so) to now waiting for the next wave of prospects (Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel) was abrupt.
  22. Anger at books has been going on for centuries.
  23. Good piece from Over the Monster pointing out the flaws in the latest messaging from Werner and Breslow: https://www.overthemonster.com/2024/1/17/24041579/no-pressure-dudes-red-sox-free-agent-rumors-werner-throttle-montgomery-mayer-anthony-teel-snell There’s a lot to unpack here, and I’m tempted to start with the ludicrous claim that creating a talent pipeline of internally developed players is the “fastest path to a World Series team.” It plainly is not. It’s the cheapest path to building a winner — and if your owner insists on resetting the luxury tax at regular intervals, then it’s also probably the best way to achieve sustained success — but it is in no uncertain terms the fastest path.
  24. Now jad, don't let the politics monster rear its ugly head.
  25. Apparently it's only bench coaches that should be tossed.
