  1. The last gasp of John Henry Unfiltered. He shall not be heard from again.
  2. That statement is much too clear and straightforward for our front office. You'd have to dress it up in several layers of ambiguity and throw in a touch of WTF does that mean? before they could use it.
  3. Another joke along those lines: A Newfoundlander goes to Boston to see a Red Sox game. He accosts a young man to ask for directions. The young man happens to be a Harvard student. Newfoundlander: Hey b'y, where's Fenway Park to? Harvard student (scowling): Don't you know you're not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition? Newfoundlander: Okay, where's Fenway Park to, arsehole?
  4. Nobody ever thought it was.
  5. If the run prevention keeps up in the ST games it'll be a positive sign. Last year the team started off well in ST games and then started giving up runs at a ridiculous rate. Just tryin' to find something to be hopeful about, Randy.
  6. Things are looking up a bit though. I think we have some actual baseball brains now with Breslow, Bailey et al.
  7. Bobby Dalbec lives! Kind of liking Rafaela. Is he Opening Day Center Fielder?
  8. To me it's all coming down to whether they sign Monty or not. If they do I'll happy and if they don't (and the deal isn't crazy) I'll be pissed.
  9. Keith Law of The Athletic rated the Sox system #8. I think the most sensible approach would be to take an average, or median, of reputable rankers.
  10. We officially have a new pair of Rock Em Sock Em Robots on Talksox.
  11. Well, we do have some new people who know lots about pitching...
  12. Not really seeing any champagne toasts proposed.
  13. The lack of pitching was why Keith Law was downgrading our system. But this year he bumped us up to #8.
  14. Plus it's ranked higher by other sources, correct?
  15. Sorry man, that's part of the Fenway Experience.
  16. Yeah, that's not a bad way to put it.
  17. I'll start out the season following them. But if things go south early, it'll really be hard to stay interested. There are actually some positive signs on the horizon, but the malfeasance with the rotation continues to deeply frustrate.
  18. There will be no Cleavonger in Boston.
  19. I get both your points!
  20. Gray's issue is a bit less severe.
  21. Lynn is a dumpster dive too, but his contract is much more palatable than Giolito's.
  22. So much for bWAR, huh? It's the 24 HR in 72 IP I couldn't get past. Those are "career over" numbers.
  23. I try to be on board with some advanced numbers, but my stopping point is FIP without the x.
  24. Right, and a combined 2.1 bWAR for 2022-2023. Average of 1.05. Not great for a guy throwing that many innings.
  25. It was notin who dragged Nate's 20 bad innings into this.
