    Pablo Reyes hitting 5th, 3rd and 6th in the order in his last 3 starts is another dreadfully ominous sign of the quality of our roster.

    Don't disagree, but the O's haven't done much over the last few decades to earn a role as a model franchise. New ownership could change all that though.

    Rafaela getting PHed for by Hamilton was not a great thing to see either.

    It is, however, fair to look at Devers as a DH, unfortunately.

    Hard to say. I like Devers and he's a productive hitter. But his defense has not come around, and that's a big problem. Looks like it's gonna be a big overpay over the life of the contract. Losing Betts was a catastrophic error and hard to recover from.

    Blowing games like last night is gonna happen. It's our post-Story starting 9 that's scary. We have no good defensive infielders, and a DH that can't hit. Stuff like that.

    redsoxrules's main point has been that they gave the truckload of cash to the wrong guy.

    It's just way too early to say how these guys are going to hold up over a 162 game season. None of them have much of an MLB history to go on.

    I borrowed that from Yogi Berra of course. It's a beauty. It struck me funny when moon said "of late" referring to pitchers who have mostly had only 2 starts.

    FanGraphs has him at 4.2 RAR on defense for 2022 in 118 games. About average I would guess. Defensive ratings are confusing as hell. They are worthy of old school guys laughing at them.

    I'll say 12th to 15th. We were hoping for a healthy and rebounding Story. Our RH hitting is paper thin now. Waiting on Grissom of course.

    It's hard to plan around your #1 guy at such a key position going down. They have to find out how long Story will be out and act accordingly.

    I have confidence that Breslow can figure this out better than Bloom did.

    I've done a real 180 on all this recently, I must admit. I think Cora may have a pretty positive outlook on where things are going. The youth movement has arrived. Breslow and Bailey seem to be doing a fine job. There are a few signals of spending with the extension for Bello and reports of negotiations with other extension candidates. But obviously if they want to keep Cora they're going to have to pay the man.
