  1. Sam lit a fire under the guys! He's like the executive version of Big Papi!
  2. Shocking behavior on an unmoderated fan site!
  3. I actually agree with you. Just tryin' to keep things fair.
  4. You know what he meant. And oddly enough, I can't find the word "irritating" in his posts.
  5. I hope you didn't really take that seriously. We have a lot of jokers here.
  6. C'mon man, nobody said irritating over scoring, because nobody would. You injected that into the discussion yourself. jung was clearly suggesting irritating and scoring.
  7. Pretty good data-based article on why the Braves thought Sale was worth taking a chance on. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/chris-sale-trade-three-stats-that-show-why-braves-are-taking-chance-on-veteran-lefty/
  8. Buy, Buy, Miss American Pie. (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)
  9. Rice is a big kid. Yankees may have made a nice under the radar score with him.
  10. But it's pretty hard to dispute what Earl Weaver said about momentum.
  11. No, it didn't, and IMHO notin's argument about the Braves having more depth than us explains why it made sense for them, but doesn't explain why it made sense for us. If we kept Sale and he got injured, obviously we'd have to put him on the IL and fill in for him. That's just normal everyday business in a world where pitchers are dropping all over the place. We lost Giolito and Whitlock for the year, and Bello and Pivetta have had IL stints.
  12. The Dodgers bet $136 million on Glasnow. That's a lot of chancin' and hopin'...
  13. Fails to address how a team lacking in starter depth gets better by subtracting. You just keep going round the mulberry bush to the injury history because it's all you have.
  14. That's fine, but I fail to see how removing Sale did anything for our depth.
  15. Quite possible, but I think it should also be noted that this was a very, very reasonable extension. He was slated to make $27 mill for 2024, so the extension was one year for $11 mill, plus the Braves got a team option for a third year at $18 mill. He certainly didn't play hardball with them. (Yes, I know, injury-plagued beggars can't be choosers and all that.)
  16. And where's that poster who said Rafaela doesn't have the power to be trying to crush the ball the way he does?
  17. What an at-bat by Yoshida. Took a real close one, fouled off a couple, finally got his pitch. I swear I was thinking that this just might be his moment, and there it was.
  18. To me that move was Cora to the Core. Sticking to his guns and going with the L-R matchup even though it's the final out, Gonzo is having a big game and Dom Smith is..well, Dom Smith. And what does Dom do but coolly rifle a single up the middle and set the stage.
  19. They do have Gonzalez and Grissom.
  20. Yeah, 162 games is a lot of freakin' games. And it's why baseball is the best.
  21. But it was all rumors and innuendo, wasn't it? I don't think there are any names attached to quotes about him...
  22. Judge has been DHing a lot, and Verdugo and Grisham have both been in the OF.
  23. Yes, I think you may have hit on it!
  24. Because 10 million is still a chunk of change? This is like asking why they traded Price when they still had to pay $16 million.
