    All you're saying is that in return for the $45 million salary relief on Price we got lesser prospects. That's pretty clear, but it has nothing to do with Betts.

    And taking Price probably factored into the quality of the prospects the Dodgers were willing to give up. But yeah, Betts was obviously going to the Dodgers with or without Price. Price was just a side piece.

    Not sure of the relevance of that either. All Denny said was you need to spend money to maintain the value of your house.

    $156 mill. He sat out 2020 and was not paid at all that year. Per FanGraphs his value for the years 2016-2019 was about $85 mill. There have been much worse busts.

    It wouldn't be as much as of an issue if we weren't racking up all these sub-.500 seasons. Another one this year would make 7 out of the last 13.

    I'll take Price's WAR over Yoshida's and Grissom's, thank you very much! Plus Price did come through big in the 2018 postseason. We might have had a problem without him, yes...

    I read somewhere that the Red Sox have already as much as said they're trading Jansen no matter what. Makes sense with the Hendriks signing. Kenley should fetch something half decent.

    I get the philosophy. Give a guy like Cooper a full shot, if he doesn't capitalize, you move on.

    It turns out that I'm an even bigger Cora fan than you are. I think Cora has certain principles that he adheres to when he's making out lineups and he sticks to them faithfully. He doesn't bury guys who are cold like Cooper. He's definitely not a "ride the hot hand" guy. It's up to Breslow to cut a guy like Cooper loose.

    At least in this case we can say we came out alright in the sense that we won a ring with Price. Jon of course won another ring with the Cubs.

    That 4 year/$70 million opening "offer" to Lester was a sign of things to come.

    I for one will be somewhat amused if they get put in the same "should we buy or should we sell" position this year. I agree that Breslow is more likely to be bold and sell whatever he can. It'll probably be the right thing to do, but it'll be another firestorm for the front office, after the full throttle, our mission is to compete ********.
