  1. I have to object to putting Yoshida on the second list because he had an IL stint LOL
  2. You seem to be suggesting he's applying a one size fits all approach. All the quotes I see from Bailey emphasize tailoring the approach to each pitcher, finding out what they do well and having them do it a lot.
  3. Well, I didn't think the Kluber signing was horrible in itself. It was the fact that it was the only signing that bothered me. You can't have enough pitching is still a principle that makes sense. Trading Sale went against that principle.
  4. We're all free to speculate our asses off, when it comes to that.
  5. Plus Sale's numbers would indicate that what he's doing is working just fine. I thought Bailey's philosophy was for guys to do what they do best.
  6. The argument that the Braves were in a better position to take a gamble on Sale, that they could afford it more than the Red Sox, is one that really irks me. The Braves are in their second year of paying luxury tax and will likely be in their third year next year. The Red Sox are in their second year of not paying tax. The Red Sox are #3 in team value per Forbes. The Braves are #8. That argument is one that JH would love Sox fans to believe.
  7. Yeah, I think the stat mavens have calculated that you have to be successful on at least 75% of steal attempts before it's a positive. Hamilton is at 95% and Duran is at 86%. So turn 'em loose, absolutely.
  8. I think JH and his low throttle budget had a lot to do with this. I think Breslow had to free up the stupid $10 million to make the other moves he wanted to make.
  9. This is all gibberish. The simple fact is the Red Sox didn't have to make this trade. They had very little to lose by keeping Sale. That's all I've been saying all along. They rolled the dice and got burned big time. It is what it is.
  10. Makes zero sense.
  11. Also, I didn't realize you were such an old school ERA guy.
  12. In your world, the Red Sox couldn't afford to take such a gamble.
  13. Damn those delusional, lying Braves...
  14. And if Yoshida continues to flail they'll have to make a move. Can he be sent to Worcester?
  15. Read elsewhere that Refsnyder has been dealing with a sore right knee and that's why he was out last night.
  16. You've never had to talk me off any ledges about Yoshida. It was a terrible signing, I haven't changed my position on that one iota. As I've said, he's a sunk cost. Cora doesn't bench anyone, that's the point. He manages to get everyone AB's. If a guy does badly for an extended period like Cooper, he's gone. You can't make out the lineup card every game based on who's been hot over the last few games, that would be nonsensical. With the number of AB's Yoshida has, 2 good games and his OPS would jump 50 points or more.
  17. They did split a couple of series with the Jays this year.
  18. City Connect jerseys showcase the vibrant and distinct culture of their team and their city.
  19. There are other iconic MLB uniforms. In any case, not sure what it would have to do with electing not to ever wear the City Connect jerseys.
  20. As for the "flashpoint" thing, moon, that's basically one of the consequences of averaging 10,000 posts a year.
