Valentine went too long with him.

Right. And a 1.87 ERA at the break last year. Befuddling, as you say.

    Yankees lose.
  4. Bellhorn04
We were just chatting about that today on the Nava thread.

Jurrjens was 13-6 with a 2.96 ERA last year...his s***** numbers this year probably injury-related. Bad timing for us apparently.

    What a horseshit call.

    LOL now that is greedy.

Cool fantasy isn't it...with a Sox game on in the background.

This team is not really in the habit of letting all the pitchers decide what their roles will be. I'm not sure why they made a special exception for Bard, but I assume it was because they believed it would ultimately be in the best interest of the team. Aceves wanted to start too and they said no.

Reasonable points...I think some of that pessimism stems from fear of the 'Renteria syndrome', a condition where the player is truly unable to cope with the pressures and general insanity of playing for Boston.

The more I think about it, jung may have made a good call with the soft landing for CC idea. It would take some pressure off him.

Nice number crunching on the steals.

Valentine seems to be a fairly adept lineup juggler...he's had plenty of practice at it already this year.

As a matter of fact, Jason Bay was 7th in MVP voting in 2009, silver slugger, ASG starter. He's hitting .246 for the Mets.

Now you're really overstating your case. What you just described has most certainly happened.

No, but I have a lot more faith in Gonzalez to turn it around than I do Crawford. Gonzo already put up a solid season here. I've already said Crawford gets his job back. I just don't want Nava traded. If Crawford doesn't get it back together fairly quickly, he's going to be a real problem.

Crawford was flat horrible for an entire season and now injured for half another season. There are good reasons to be concerned about him.
  23. Bellhorn04
Crawford hasn't exactly been the picture of health, productivity, good technique, or any other positive traits these 1.5 years.

Jurrjens, Delgado and Minor are the 3 Atlanta pitchers we're scheduled to face. We must pillage, plunder and sweep.
