  1. I don't think it's the time to be trading prospects, it's the time for developing them.
  2. This team must have done something to really piss off the baseball gods last September. I mean, Middlebrooks comes up for a couple of games and today he can't play. Cook comes up, gets knocked around and gets injured.
  3. I have no problem with anything you said there. I think it's great that fans get to come on here and express their opinions about what should be done. I've been on the 'dump Salty' bandwagon so I certainly do it too.
  4. In fairness to the FO, making the actual decisions is more difficult to do when it's real life and final and irrevocable. They don't have the luxury of being wrong with impunity like us. For example the folks who said they should have let Ortiz walk, well, they can just shrug, laugh and move on.
  5. Good stuff Mr. jung.
  6. Pujols now below the Mendoza line at .194 with 5 RBI through 27 games, 1/6 of the season.
  7. Aha, well, I would say promotional hype is one thing, and flat-out lying is another...
  8. I liked Alex Gonzalez when he was here. I liked OCab too. I've always thought it was strange how those two keep getting shipped from one team to another. And yes, I know all the OCab rumors...
  9. It's ex-Sox players etc. so any players on other teams.
  10. Jed Lowrie has a .927 OPS. Now that ain't right.
  11. Papelbon is off to a great start, which doesn't surprise me at all. I think there's a good chance he'll continue to be one of the top closers in the game over the next 4 years.
  12. It does seem bogus and it should be stopped.
  13. Who's hot, but especially who's not? I'm always checking the numbers for ex-Sox players, Yankees, big-contract guys...anybody I'm hoping is doing poorly, in other words. Schadenfreude, right? And sometimes it's even interesting to see who's doing well. But this has to lead off with the L A Angels $240 million man, Albert Pujols. He is off to a start that I'm sure neither he nor the Angels fans and the people who signed him to that exorbitant deal envisioned in their worst nightmares. 26 games 202/245/279 524 OPS 0 HR 5 RBI Wow.
  14. The Yankees are having some s***** luck of their own this year.
  15. That's fine, I can understand some disagreement. Personally I think this was a good time to give him a shot.
  16. Look, if the team didn't think it could be in their best interest to give Bard a shot at starting, he wouldn't be doing it.
  17. Bard needs to be paired up with Shoppach, not Salty. Bard has a career 4.70 ERA with Salty catching him, and a 1.62 K to BB ratio. He had a 1.79 ERA pitching to Varitek, with a 4.75 K to BB ratio. His one game with Shoppach was his best, 7 innings, 6 K's, 1 BB.
  18. That's why I'm saying Mortensen did at least pitch better than anyone else against the A's.
  19. The time for the youth movement has arrived. Sometime in the near future they need to trade Salty, maybe Youk as well, bring up Lavarnway and bring Varitek in to work with him.
  20. Yeah, Oakland can't score runs at all, except for the 15 they managed to put up against our other pitchers in 2.7 games.
  21. Mortensen had a very nice outing. Maybe he will bolster the pen a bit.
  22. It'd also be nice if they could hire Varitek in some capacity and have him work with Lavarnway.
