I didn't know much about the Giants-Eagles rivalry till I saw this movie but it was an eye-opener. And my guess is Rapaport completely nailed the 'real Eagles fan'.
Has anybody here ever seen the movie 'Big Fan'? I highly recommend it. It's a hilarious black comedy about an incredibly fanatical New York Giants fan and Eagles hater who has a momentous encounter with his favorite player. Michael Rapaport plays an Eagles fan who is so over-the-top obnoxious that...well, you just have to see it.
I'm a Red Sox fan. The only other sports team I have ever cared passionately about was the Chicago Black Hawks, but that ended when Bobby Hull jumped to the WHA in 1972.
For other sports besides baseball I'm a resident of Bandwagon City.
Nobody knows exactly WTF Bard's problem is. Could be physical affereffects from being used too much last year. Could be mechanical problems from the change to starting. Could be mental. Could be all three. He seems to be a guy who really needs help. As I showed his numbers with Varitek catching him were incredibly good, and much better than with other catchers. I think he can turn things around but he needs a good coach.
Philly is above NL average in offense, without Howard and Utley. They are below NL average in pitching, with Hamels. They need offense more than they need Hamels?
Again, why does Philly let go of Hamels? They just can't afford him? He's already making $15 million or so. Their payroll is as high as ours. They're paying Paps $12.5 million. Halladay is hurt and Lee is having a rough streak.
