  1. Something that gets forgotten about is that Napoli was Blue Jays property, briefly, before the 2011 season. They got him from the Angels in the Vernon Wells dump. But then they flipped to him to Texas for the immortal Frank Francisco. I thought it was strange that they let him go so easily. I think he would do OK playing half his games in Rogers Centre...
  2. I knew Napoli was a strong guy but I didn't realize how strong. He can crush a baseball like very few hitters I've seen.
  3. As it says on the new Napoli thread, the first bomb he hit last night off Buehrle went even further at 472 feet. So that's two homers totaling 939 feet.
  4. The Jays big offseason does look like a disastrous failure at this point.
  5. Napoli last 17 games - 333/405/727. 4 HR, 12 2B, 23 RBI.
  6. Home Run Tracker says it was 467 feet. That's the 5th longest home run in the majors this season. Trumbo has the lead with a 475 foot shot.
  7. He's off to a brilliant start.
  8. Napoli's been on an unbelievable tear. I'll have some numbers on that tomorrow.
  9. Especially with Captain Ahab at the helm.
  10. Tiny sample obviously, but Carp's numbers are crazy. He's got 27 total bases in 25 AB's for a slugging pct. of 1.080.
  11. Have to check that on the Home Run Tracker website tomorrow.
  12. Their pitching stinks and Weaver is on the shelf. And they're not even winning the slugfests.
  13. Depends what you call a good life I guess.
  14. Wow. That is a cynical take on baseball wives.
  15. Hamilton went 0 for 8 last night with 3 K's as the Angels fell to 9-16. Ouch.
  16. The only rational explanation for that is that Fernandez hurt himself in the at-bat.
  17. Baseball is such a long season it's ridiculous. Of course that's also why we love it. But we've got 137 games left. In hockey and basketball they have 82 game seasons. We have those 82 plus an additional 55 left.
  18. 3 more outs...can the 'Stros hang on?
  19. Sure they will hit. But to me the big thing about Pujols is that starting with 2009, his numbers have been regressing in a sharp, steady downtrend, very similar to A-Rod's starting with 2008. That's why I thought it was so insane for the Angels to give Pujols what they did. The evidence was right there in front of them that he was in the same decline as A-Rod.
  20. Yeah I hear what you're saying. I really think the Angels are going to go up in flames on those contracts though. The Pujols one in particular was sheer madness.
  21. Orioles finally lose. Tough one too as they blew several leads late. Yes!
  22. Fun fact #1: Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton each make more than the Astros team. Fun fact #2: After today's game, Pujols (who is now a DH) is hitting .244 with 2 HR and Hamilton is hitting .219 with 2 HR.
  23. Now could the Baltimore Orioles kindly LOSE A f***ING GAME TODAY?
  24. Meanwhile their cleanup hitter, Pena, has a shot at his third sub-Mendoza-line season in the last 4. And we're talking full seasons with no injuries.
