    Of course. Lester & Lackey are both demonstrative, and it probably does affect them negatively at times. I'm sure they're aware of it and I'm sure their coaches have talked to them about it many times. But it's part of their personalities I guess.

    I really dislike that term 'bridge year' too. If you have a shot at a championship you have to go for it. We have a chance. We have a 'bright future' and all that, but our biggest offensive star, Ortiz, is not going to be with us too much longer.

    Speaking of injuries to pitchers, Brandon Morrow of the Jays has been on the shelf for a while with a sore forearm and they have finally diagnosed it. He has an 'entrapped radial nerve' and will miss the rest of the season. An entrapped radial nerve-Jeezus.

    Welcome. In answer to your question, we had two guys in 2004 who did put their careers on the line to get us to a title-Schilling and Foulke. And God bless them for it. But they were already near the end of their careers. I don't think too many people actually want Buchholz to risk his career this year. It's a debate that will rage on a while. I see that Globe columnist Chad Finn has a column about it with a headline that Buchholz is being smart, not soft.
