  1. As usual I'm glad I didn't make any predictions because they would have been so wrong. It's impossible. Just a big waste of time.
  2. Napoli with runner on first, less than 2 out: 111 PA, .843 OPS, 33 RBI, 13 GIDP Pedroia with runner on first, less than 2 out: 141 PA, .865 OPS, 25 RBI, 18 GIDP Napoli hasn't been horrible in that situation. I would guess the GIDP rate is about average for a RH hitter with power. The strikeouts would certainly reduce the number of productive outs he has.
  3. I don't mind seeing Napoli in a big spot if there are no outs or one out. But with two out, you would definitely rather see someone else up there.
  4. He really does. Except maybe for the 9 HR and 28 RBI in 24 games, he's done nothing.
  5. 6 pitches for 3 outs Koji? What is wrong with you today?
  6. Well, the Giants got one decent year from Zito, last year. Pretty incredible that it was Zito who had to save the Giants from elimination by St. Louis in Game 5 of the NLCS and he pulled it off.
  7. Yes, as much as we criticize Sox management for mishandling this and that, they seem to have handled Middlebrooks's situation pretty well.
  8. Right. Hopefully that's the reasoning.
  9. Morneau also has a very attractive career .993 OPS at Fenway. Any reason we shouldn't be interested in him?
  10. Now I'm definitely expecting it to happen.
  11. Here's another potentially ugly development: the Yankees are reportedly talking to the Twins about Morneau. Morneau has been hot recently. And his numbers at YS are ridiculously good. 433/507/883 in YS3. Morneau could be a great fit for us but there's no indication we're interested. We might be watching and weeping on this one.
  12. The starting pitching performances are crapshoots. Hughes has pitched 2 decent games in a row. He's not incapable of a good streak. Nor is Pettitte. The Yankees bullpen seems a lot better than ours. Ours is rapidly emerging as a potential killer. Especially with Farrell making bad decisions like using Workman on Monday.
  13. Yeah, because you're the bipolar one.
  14. Dickey is going to get pummelled. Balls will be flying into the short porch.
  15. The Yankees are pretty much a lock to win the next 2 vs. the Jays. If they lose either one I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  16. I just realized something very troubling about the decision not to use Workman last night. Farrell said he didn't want to use him 3 games in a row. But he used him to close out Monday's game with a 7-run lead. Ugh.
  17. If the Yankees do make the playoffs, Girardi will have to be credited with one of the best managing jobs in history.
  18. There are some very bad signs developing. I hate giving games away and I can't help feeling we did it two out of the last 3 games. Still pissed at Dempster.
  19. Have to agree. Can't be f***ing around at this point. Ortiz could have made a big difference last night.
  20. That's a dilemma you can't do anything about. Those are the easy ones.
  21. We have to win today. If we lose today it's 4 straight series losses, against teams with worse records. That would not be not good at all.
  22. What's really disturbing is blowing leads like this. 6-3 vs. the Yankees, 2-0 vs. the Giants. Offense shuts down and pitchers cough it up. And manager is starting to look questionable.
  23. I'm not giving up on Bogaerts just yet.
  24. 2 ML AB's and he's already left 5 guys on base. Welcome to the show kid. Like to see him hit one on the button tonight even if it's at somebody.
