  1. All the more reason we need them stuck with paying A-Rod this year.
  2. Jeff Bagwell, OTOH, had horrible postseason numbers. Only 129 PA's, but still.
  3. Hitting in the clutch is certainly something that can be evaluated by statistics. But are there any hitters who consistently perform better in those situations? I haven't even checked out the numbers on Beltran, but he seems like he might be a good test case.
  4. I get what you're saying, but I think I get what Spitball is saying too. I think he is factoring in the size of the player's contract. Ortiz and Pedroia make $15 million or less. AGon makes $22 million and has one of the biggest contracts in history.
  5. It seems to me that the Tigers pitching has been phenomenally good and it's our pitching (incredible relief pitching) and defence that has saved our asses. Nothing we could do would necessarily generate more offence. Just keep pitching and defending our asses off.
  6. We have been stoned 4 straight games by the Detroit starters. We have not scored a single run in innings 1-5 in the series-barely threatened to, in fact. Crazy.
  7. I know that didn't come out exactly like you meant it.
  8. It is a little amazing that the Red Sox pitching has been this good.
  9. Most managers prefer vets this time of year. Ask Iggy.
  10. My 'too afraid to watch most of the time' mojo worked LOL.
  11. Agreed. Plus Drew could start to hit again. It's been known to happen. A .777 OPS during the season is pretty good for a SS. Remember Mark Bellhorn!
  12. Personally I think you Americans handle the French language the correct way - you generally ignore it.
  13. Hope you're right. But just in case, around the 5th inning the words 'short leash' will hopefully be somewhere in Farrell's thoughts.
  14. Carp over Nava? Dojji, say it isn't so!
  15. She's just a random chick from 'Sexy Sox Girls' or whatever...there is such a site, used to be anyway. You have to put the Peyton Manning thing right out of your mind. She's OK-looking. You made me think about Manning by saying that, but I got past it pretty quick.
  16. Yeah? Ha ha...I don't really care about Crawford that much but I know how you feel. My vindictiveness seems to be focused on Iglesias. It's not even his fault. It's just that on the other forum there have been people complaining about the deal and saying we traded a great shortstop etc.
  17. And the pitching in the postseason is so good, in general, that if a guy has two good at-bats in one game, including outs, you almost have to be happy with that. Sometimes the pitcher just hits his spot 3-4 times in a row and the hitter has not much chance.
  18. Usually I can't get into the NL series very much. I don't like the Dodgers but I don't really want a sweep either - that's just too boring.
  19. Yeah, that's what I mean. And on Bill Mueller's game tying hit in Game 4 of 2004 ALCS he says 'UP THE MIDDLE' really loud. It is kind of a cool delivery.
  20. Man, people dissing Katy Perry and yours too. Some people really set the bar high.
  21. I know why McCarver irritates the heck out of people, but I think he deserves credit for one thing. He tries to point out the little things that go on, like how the fielders are positioned, or whether the baserunner should have tried to take the extra base or not. I'm not saying he does a great job at it, but at least he tries to do more than just state the obvious.
  22. I'll say this, Buck has the voice and the manner. It's one of those voices that seems to make what he's covering seem kind of important. And when he's covering the Sox you really want them to win and you want to hear him say good things about them.
