  1. It's a funny thing. Theo Epstein tried it both ways: after 2004 he tried to remake the team, letting Pedro, D-Lowe and Cabrera go. After 2007 he tried to keep it together, re-signing Schilling and Lowell.
  2. Salty shouldn't have thrown that ball. And he had a key misplay the game before as well. And he has struck out 19 times in 35 plate appearances in the postseason. He had a very good season. But he's been hurting us in the postseason. Ross is clearly the right choice.
  3. OK, well I guess this is the same as the debate about whether a pitcher should win the regular season MVP. You get into the apples-and-oranges thing. I don't accept the blowout argument though. A lot of Ortiz's hits were either in the Game 1 blowout or in games we lost. That shouldn't diminish his contributions.
  4. But how can you compare a pitcher's performance with a hitter's, especially in a postseason series? Lester has done everything a pitcher can do for his team, Ortiz has done everything a hitter can do. That's why I think co-MVP's would be a logical choice.
  5. Lester's career is far from over, but after this tremendous season, he has moved up high in the echelons of Sox pitchers and he will be remembered for a long time. Sox fans have very long memories. Jim Lonborg is still well-known to Sox fans and Lester's record is considerably greater.
  6. In the 2004 WS the Sox made 8 errors in the first 2 games.
  7. Last time there were co-MVP's was 2001 - Schilling & Randy Johnson.
  8. Co-MVP's - Lester & Ortiz.
  9. Personally if I ever bet against the Sox, I would sort of keep that information to myself...
  10. The pitching duels have been awesome. But if the Sox could score a pile of runs for Lackey on Wednesday that would be cool also.
  11. That sounds pretty good right now.
  12. What an incredible career turnaround for Jon Lester.
  13. This is surreal. Back to Fenway up 3-2, and this game wasn't even 3 hours long!
  14. Jonny Games...possible nickname. Or Jonny Ballgomes?
  15. I assume the 7th game starter would be Peavy, but with all hands on deck...if Doubront doesn't pitch in Games 5 or 6 he would have 3 days rest.
  16. On the night he only plays because Victorino can't go, he gets the biggest hit of his life. Gotta love this game.
  17. I was asking the same thing about the Tigers last year.
  18. I do. Hardly even try to watch them anymore unless I have insomnia.
  19. Right, you're in the Eastern zone. Game starts at 8:15 and ends around 12 for you, it starts at 9:15 and ends at 1 for me.
  20. Sorry man, ain't happening. The games are all one hour later for me here in the Atlantic time zone.
  21. Fun fact. I still want him playing SS though. And his Bellhorn moments might be coming!
  22. I'm hearing Farrell has already said that Drew will start Game 3.
  23. I don't see much difference between him repeating that and other people repeating that Nava is better vs. RHP.
