  1. Ha ha ha...the Rays are losing 7-1 in the 5th. They are on their 4th pitcher already and every one of them has stunk. Maddon must be s***ing himself.
  2. Right. For example, last I heard, 'K machine' Napoli was leading the majors in pitches per AB. Some of this stuff may not even be measurable in any satisfactory way. I hope it all can't be measured, actually.
  3. It's all situational, right? A K with one out and a runner on third is terrible performance. A K with 2 outs and nobody on is no different from a groundout.
  4. Markakis is thinking 'WTF was that, a rising cut fastball...Jesus.'
  5. Stephen Drew - we're gonna miss that guy next year.
  6. Dear Mr. Feldman: We trust you are enjoying this evening's touching up of your Earned Run Average. Sincerely The Red Sox
  7. Dojji should get extra points for Nava though. Nava should cancel out at least 2 of Dojji's bad picks.
  8. So let's say Middlebrooks does turn out to be a better-fielding Mark Reynolds. It's really not so bad, a guy like that can be a strong asset. Right now having a guy like this hitting at the bottom of the order is like having a secret nuke.
  9. Make Feldman a felled man tonight.
  10. The comparison was to Ken Senior.
  11. His steal #s this year are surprisingly bad.
  12. Agreed. This was strictly an offensive comparison.
  13. FWIW, a poster on the Globe forum has been drawing comparisons between WMB and Mark Reynolds. At first that sounds a little outrageous, but the more you look at it, it's not that far-fetched. The main differences - Reynolds strikes out more, but also walks a lot more. He's more of a TTO hitter I guess. But in terms of OPS, streakiness and productivity, the comparison might be valid. Time will tell.
  14. God bless the Angels. Let's get it done ourselves tonight.
  15. Looks like our HFA is in the hands of the Angels.
  16. Holy s***, Giambi...unbelievable.
  17. He has really hurt that team hasn't he.
  18. Yeah, absolutely. I'm relieved to hear it. You don't ever want to see a young player like that seriously injured.
  19. I guess I was lucky that way. I was born in 1956 and the Sox absolutely SUCKED until 1967 when I was 11 and just really getting into baseball.
  20. Certainly what Braun did, smearing an innocent individual to save his own ass, was pretty heinous.
