  1. Well, in theory at least, moving him now could bring a bigger return because the acquiring team gets him for at least one full season plus two end-seasons. Plus a bigger window to sign him to an extension.
  2. Yeah, he probably only needs to average a WAR of 3 or so to be worth that contract.
  3. Who knows...I thought Lance Berkman was going to RAKE when the Yankees got him in 2010. Instead he had 1 HR and 9 RBI in 37 games.
  4. It'd be even funnier if it had one of Fred's earlier tirades about Drew on top of it.
  5. This is really shaping up as a PR disaster for the Red Sox.
  6. It feels like every excellent start is tacking on another $5 million.
  7. What about Craig, sk? You look at his 162 game averages, he's got an .807 OPS, 20 HR, 101 RBI. But he declined and then fell off completely this year. Just a terrible year or done?
  8. Great start. Dude has a 2.64 ERA.
  9. Bradley is hitting .299 in his last 20 games, raising his average from .202 to .225. There are some positive signs for him.
  10. Right on...that position makes sense.
  11. Too bad he's in the Oriole system...gonna make it hard to trade for him.
  12. Pal, you've been preaching that we're not out of it. If we're truly not out of it, trading Koji would certainly hurt any chances we have.
  13. Could be, but I also don't know why they juggled the rotation so that he would start two games in a row. Usually the Sox give their starters as much rest as possible. Here's a guy who's not the world's most durable, not far off the DL, with a pretty high pitch count last time out.
  14. Too bad we don't have a sweet clue of what Lester is looking for, or whether he has given the Red Sox any numbers at all.
  15. At what age did Lee's downward spiral begin?
  16. But Lester is at 1600 innings because he's never on the DL. Plus he hasn't had any really excessive innings numbers in any one year. He's a good bet to stay healthy.
  17. Agreed, doing it for only 2 years of Stanton wouldn't work.
  18. I would trade Bogaerts for Stanton. The question is who else would they want along with Bogaerts.
  19. I know one shortstop that won the MVP. He used to be a great trivia question to ask because only a true baseball geek would know the answer. You could give the year, the team, the position, and his initials, and you would still just get blank stares. (Zoilo Versalles, Minnesota, 1965)
  20. Fred, you are the poster boy for Old School.
  21. Bradley has a 1.5 WAR compared to Span's 1.8 so he's been pretty close.
  22. Yes, Gomes is a must-trade, along with Peavy.
  23. I only see them trading guys who aren't signed beyond this year.
  24. I agree just as much as I did when you said it 56 minutes earlier.
  25. No excuse there. Nava doubled and walked the last two times he pinch-hit, too.
