    I have little doubt that Dombrowski seriously explored making a trade for a CCTOR starter this past offseason and found out that the ones he was interested in were only available for an exorbitant price-Betts or Bogey plus. Two of the names that were mentioned the most as targets were Carrasco and Salazar. But guess what, Cleveland wasn't in sell mode at all.

    It's next to impossible to have a true dynasty in MLB anymore. Too many things working against it. Bud Selig's idea was Parity = More Excited Fans = The Most Possible Revenue.

    Not true of everybody. There is still griping about the Iggy-Peavy trade.

    Third place? That's a little disingenuous. We're actually in second, technically, 2 games out in the division, 3.5 out in the league, with almost half a season to go.

    But if Buchholz or Kelly or Owens pitched as well as a lot of people hoped they might this situation wouldn't be what it is. There were a lot of things that led to this-most of them were inherited from Ben.

    What made the Bagwell trade especially egregious was that it was for .3 seasons of a relief pitcher.

    I'm pretty sure that DD didn't actually want to do this, but felt he was forced to by the situation.

    Obviously they had hopes for better things from Buch/Kelly/Owens/Johnson. Didn't you?

    The only homegrown starter who played a role in the titles was Lester.

    So maybe you can look forward to good times in 2020.

    Unfortunately the 2016 major league rotation had big holes and guys like Owens and Johnson were no help.

    Absolutely. He got every last nickel he could and signed. Can't argue with that.

    At the end of the day you can blame Ben for leaving our starting rotation in such bad shape that moves like this became necessary.
