  1. It really is pretty sad when it doesn't make sense financially for one of the richest teams in the game to hold onto any of their top young players for the long term.
  2. Their winning pct. is .706. The 2001 Mariners hold the record for a 162 game schedule of 116-46, which was .716. (The 2001 Mariners lost in 5 games in the ALCS.)
  3. Back to back 74's. He did better than a lot of people expected him to and finished ahead of some real golfers.
  4. Sometimes these trades have a bad effect on me - I actually hope the players we traded don't do that well. Right now I'm keeping an eye on Travis Shaw to see if he has a late fade like he did last year. I'm not proud of it but it seems to be kind of a natural thing to do.
  5. The 2014 A's were 66-41 when we traded Lester to them. They went 22-33 the rest of the way.
  6. I remember when the Yankees had their own 'Killer B's' that were going to anchor the team's future rotations - Betances, Banuelos and Brackman. Instead of 3 starters they got 1 reliever.
  7. Not a very good comp LOL
  8. It's going to be finished, within the next 12-18 months, unless I die or lose my faculties.
  9. They're approaching the Tom Brady Retirement Canyon...how much longer can he play?
  10. I'm trying to write a novel myself...been at it 4 years actually.
  11. I know this doesn't mean much, but I love Vazquez's 'game face'. He looks like a guy who is very intense and who also loves playing the game.
  12. I think Dombrowski walked into a franchise that was very well-stacked with position players at the major league and farm level, but at the same time in terrible shape with its pitching at the major league level and at the farm level (aside from prospects who were several years away). Every single one of his major moves has been aimed at addressing the pitching paucity.
  13. It's pretty rare that a kid hits the bricks running and never looks back. Mookie Betts might be one of those rarities - he's had a few rough spots but overall he's been great from Day One in every facet of the game.
  14. Workman looks great. It's nice to see one of these sad injury stories have a happier outcome for once. Also, I somehow failed to realize this before, but he is one big dude!
  15. Steph Curry is playing in the Web.com golf tournament this weekend. He shot a 4-over 74 in the first round. Respectable.
  16. Wow, he really becomes a lunatic in the wee hours, doesn't he?
  17. I know you're joking, but this is why it's all about OPS now. His hit was a homer and he also had a walk. So, his SLG for the game was 1.000 and his OBP was .400 for a rocking OPS of 1.400.
  18. Well, you have to admit that Theo Epstein with the Cubs pretty much nailed the 'rebuild from nothing and then kick ass' scenario.
  19. Vazquez has been great lately.
  20. Crooked numbers baby!
  21. I didn't specifically mention Devers, but he's a long term asset, is he not? The fact is that a lot of people were howling for a trade for a bat and none happened.
  22. And if he never has another GM job, we will have very little on which to judge his true abilities.
  23. Ben did leave the team pretty destitute in the pitching department.
  24. I'm not really so sure we did 'go for broke'. Obviously we did trade a lot of prospects but in some respects the team has actually shown some restraint - not going over the luxury tax limit and not making any big deals at the deadline. Also, Dombrowski has done next to nothing when it comes to adding bats - all his major moves have been for pitching.
