  1. But this team has been running into an incredible number of outs on the bases all season. They lead the majors in outs on the bases with 64, and the next closest team is 49. That's crazy.
  2. Brrr...this post is so cold I had to go grab a sweater, notin.
  3. Brentz is on a tear, but he has not 'proven time and time again that he deserves a chance'. Here are his AAA OPS's for the 4 seasons prior to this one: 2013 .788 OK 2014 .806 OK 2015 .690 Sucks 2016 .680 Sucks
  4. Don't go there, man. Baseball is not the real world, it's the entertainment world, and us fans are the ones who are responsible for unproven prospects getting 2.75 million...or 72.5 million if we're talking Rusney Castillo.
  5. Yes, cheap young talent is the best. Unfortunately if the SOB's keep playing well they get radically more expensive. Longoria's contract is probably the best bargain in modern baseball history.
  6. It's a 3-gamer. I'd be thrilled with 2 out of 3.
  7. Bogey's numbers in the 3 slot this year - 279/336/449 - 785 OPS. The 449 SLG is higher than any of our regulars except Mookie's 458. I really think you're making much too big of a deal out of it.
  8. 2016 RF should be 886. moon posts great info but could use a fact-checker on his staff.
  9. There's so much uncertainty in the whole process. If Dombrowski doesn't trade for Sale maybe we're in third place right now and we don't even make the playoffs to get that chance. Nobody knew Price was going to be injured and Porcello was going to regress so much and our offense would score so many fewer runs. I think you were of the opinion that we didn't need Sale this year.
  10. The 7 mainstays of our lineup have OPS's ranging from .801 to .743, so it's not like anyone is head and shoulders above the others so far this year.
  11. Sox fans are masters at keeping it negative.
  12. Tiny sample size moon!
  13. Another early hook by Girardi. Tanaka lifted at 4+ ahead 6-3. Joe is really betting hard on that bullpen to carry the mail. The Yanks play tomorrow night, too.
  14. You make a good argument. Don't take away my Kimbrel though.
  15. Sandy! The guy is lovable.
  16. Brian Butterfield and Ruben Amaro Jr.: OOBY and DOOBY (because we make so many Outs On Bases that it seems guys must be smoking ganja)
  17. Mitch Moreland: FIDGET SPINNER (courtesy of poster StephenCurry30)
  18. Dustin Pedroia: IT'S NOT ME
  19. OK, so with this new jersey nickname thing, how about some humorous alternate nicknames for Red Sox players past and present? They have to be fairly short ones. I'll start with a suggestion for David Price: YUCK YOU
  20. This year we've been introduced to Buddy Boshers and Aaron Bummer.
  21. Wow, talk about getting shot in the foot.
  22. I think that's a valid point. I think Henry is a little more proud and competitive as a baseball owner than he's given credit for, because he's the classic thin pale weird rich geek.
  23. Sale just seems super-intense to me.
