    I think one of the sources of confusion/conflict is that while we all have certain beliefs about the human element's effect on performance, statistics are generally not capable of measuring that effect.

    Tendinitis in his right knee. He went on the DL for this already, they brought him off, but obviously it's a longer term thing.

    Roster expansion comes September 1 and right now we have a long stretch with no days off so the extra pitcher probably makes sense.

    It's not uncommon to play guys to see what they have left knowing if they don't look good you'll probably have to release them (like Sandoval). I just mentioned it as a possibility, that's all. It's speculation.

    As Kimmi and I have suggested, they seem to be giving Holt extra playing time to try to get him back into game shape, or to see what he has, after missing a lot of time with the kind of injury whose effects can be difficult to assess. I think part of this is the possibility that they may have to release him and bring up Lin or whoever. I really don't think it's because JF has a crush on him.

    Reed had pitched on the 16th, 18th and 20th, throwing a total of 57 pitches. So let's rip Farrell for not wanting to Scott Proctor the guy!
