  1. mvp is a bit of a joker, shall we say. He's well aware that Pedroia's negative offensive rating was mainly a product of his awful baserunning numbers.
  2. You're going for the doubleheader of JF and DD.
  3. In spite of a hideous slump the last couple of weeks of the season, Pedroia still ended up with the highest OBP on the team by a good margin. That's one reason I'm not terribly inclined to knock his plate approach.
  4. Agreed. It does make him look stupid though.
  5. Once again that only includes the PA's where he put the first pitch in play, correct, not every PA where he swung at the first pitch.
  6. According to Scott Lauber Pedroia has been meeting with specialists and is still weighing options including whether to have surgery or not. (Joke on) Asked who will make the final decision, Pedroia said 'It's not me, it's them!' (Joke off)
  7. Sounds like a man who bet on them.
  8. Looks like Dombrowski was misquoted. What he must have said was that he wasn't aware of any Red Sox players who weren't having offseason surgery.
  9. Balderdash. 2012 4.5 2013 5.2 2014 4.1 2015 2.6 2016 5.4 Except for 2015 that's a pretty tight little group.
  10. Do we have any quotes on that?
  11. Gray is gonna show everyone he really is an ace! Actually what I would expect to see is Houston facing Gray/Green/DRob/Kahnle/Chapman.
  12. Except DD interviewed him for the job Sunday, didn't he?
  13. Think Jeter would have the stones to trade him to the Sox and incur the wrath of some Yankee fans?
  14. Not right now, because of the injury risk factor.
  15. Betts, Benintendi, Devers were zombies who don't care about winning? You're too far over the top to take seriously.
  16. I agree, bad strategy.
  17. It has to be very tricky, even for the managers, who have more info about it than anybody.
  18. Yes, the Recency Effect is large.
  19. Stanton is a big talent, maybe a consistent .900 OPS guy if he stays healthy. But he won't be averaging any 60 HR's a year. MLB might even look to deaden the baseball or something...not everyone was thrilled about the big spike in HR's this year.
  20. Who knows. You have to say we really did catch lightning in a bottle in 2013, considering what happened to those guys after that (aside from Koji).
  21. Well, yeah, if we had Lackey and we didn't sign Pablo and Hanley and if Ben didn't play 'Who's the Ace', a lot of things might have been different...
  22. Ain't that the truth. And Shaughnessy is a consummate knight of the keyboard. (Love that expression.)
  23. Pure supposition.
  24. Where'd Lackey rank 2014-2016?
