  1. Brentz's cup-of-coffee numbers for the Red Sox aren't even that bad...SSS needless to say.
  2. Here's where you can't win though, because if Farrell was giving Sale a bunch of extra days off he'd be getting roasted for looking ahead when we need to be winning games right now.
  3. No Sox fans on this board want the implosion. But there are a few good reasons to worry about one.
  4. I don't know what the reason for our decline is. But I do suspect that the ball being juiced has a lot to do with overall run scoring increasing across MLB. A 10% increase in home run balls is just a tad fishy IMO.
  5. And you're no different - 'implosion' is a pretty strong word considering we're still in first.
  6. MLB teams are averaging 1.27 HR per game this year compared to 1.16 last year. That's a 10% increase. That's huge.
  7. Not necessarily. I think if you look at the overall improvements in offensive numbers most of it is coming from the home run ball. If our team really is just a bunch of single hitters we're not going to benefit quite as much from the ball being juiced.
  8. I really think it depends on how the rest of the season unfolds. After all, Francona was fired after a 90 win season and a fantastic overall record.
  9. As you know, there are a number of us who feel the team's record is the bottom line for the manager. Then of course there's that old adage about not being able to fire 25 players. My opinion for some time has been that Farrell's fate should rest on the team's final results this year.
  10. And what are the possible explanations for other offenses getting better this year? -An influx of good young hitters? -Improvements in hitting approach? -Decline in quality of pitching? -Juiced ball?
  11. Yes, there are many problems and many worries for this team right now.
  12. Yeah he's not hard to spot is he. He gives himself away immediately with his screen name. Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
  13. 2011 also tells us that Henry isn't a paragon of patience.
  14. Except the last place finishes may have been blamed on the outgoing GM.
  15. If we blow the division he's toast. If he Grady's us out of the playoffs he's toast.
  16. Yes, we need all the help we can get. Go Price.
  17. A 2 game lead is dogsquat, of course. It was a 5 game lead 3 days ago. It just feels like this team has a lot of serious problems right now. The only cure is winning games.
  18. Another grim little stat: the Sox have gone 13 games in a row without scoring in the first inning.
  19. A major shout out to Stacy Lewis. Before this week's LPGA event she announced she would donate her entire winnings from the tournament to the Harvey relief effort. Then she goes out and wins the tournament, her first win in several years, and she's donating $195,000.
  20. I would release Chris Young and give Brentz a shot. Young's performance against lefties this year is a sick joke. 184/297/264 with 1 HR and 4 RBI - unbelievable.
  21. Yeah, I can't defend Porcello any more. He's hurting us this year, plain and simple.
  22. Another pile of LOBsters tonight.
  23. Pedro didn't hit Zimmer.
  24. That's one way to look at it. Another way, unfortunately, is that we are on pace to score 110 runs fewer than last year, while the average MLB team is on pace to score 29 more runs than last year.
