  1. If money is no object, where are our Christmas presents???!!!
  2. I wouldn't worry about the money so much if it wasn't for the dreadful knowledge that when they're paying Pablo Sandoval 19 million to do nothing that's 19 million they won't spend on Edwin Encarnacion - and that type of thing...
  3. That's all that has to be said...one would think, anyway...
  4. a) Now they've saved $60M. They would be 'sweating it out' too. You're arguing for a big risk in return for a small potential benefit, IMO.
  5. 20 errors would be very acceptable.
  6. What's our highest OBP guy doing hitting 8th?
  7. It's not about being scared. It's about wins and losses and run differential.
  8. The Marlins probably could have gone about this better, I'll agree with that. My main point is that this was the time to trade him, not at the 2018 deadline.
  9. We won 93 games in Papi's last season and were eliminated in the first round. We won 93 games in the first season without Papi and were eliminated in the first round. You saw a big difference from the leadership factor?
  10. No, the $207M includes everything. Cot's Contracts now includes a separate 'Tax Tracker' sheet that figures out the lux tax numbers. It's pretty impressive.
  11. We're always clamoring for something, harmony.
  12. I like how you think!
  13. Yes, he could have done worse. He risked Stanton's value dropping. How much higher can your value be than after hitting 59 homers and winning MVP? If you have him stay on a shell of a team he might be very disgruntled and it could affect his play. A lot of bad stuff could happen, not much good. No teams even claimed him on waivers this year, as you recall, and that was of course in the midst of pennant races. What teams exactly do you think would have been added to the mix?
  14. We shall see. Somehow I don't think Moreland was the 'one person' DD was referring to.
  15. The Marlins didn't want to dick around with such scenarios for the sake of possibly getting a little more for him.
  16. How many serious bidders were there that Stanton wanted to play for? The Dodgers apparently made a worse offer than the Yanks.
  17. Full marks for dressing it up with a fancy title like 'The Depth Argument', too.
  18. Disinterested Dave
  19. From Desperate to Dawdling and Dithering.
  20. Hosmer is only 28, though, so if you were looking at him with rose-colored glasses you might argue that some of the inconsistency was due to the learning process.
  21. In 64, count 'em, 64 PA's. Kind of a small sample, no?
  22. The consensus of the stories seems to be they planned to cut the payroll by 30 million if they couldn't trade Stanton, but that they were going to try to trade him as well, bringing the total slash up to 55 or 60 million.
  23. Some of the stories I'm finding say they planned to cut the payroll by as much as $60 million.
  24. Jeter is a 4% owner - what makes you think he's the one calling the shots?
