  1. I know, it's a beauty isn't it.
  2. How about this-Hosmer vs. Duda based on OPS+, minimum 400 PA's?
  3. I propose a friendly wager. I'll take Hosmer over Duda in fWAR.
  4. Someone's going to give Buchholz a minor-league deal at some point soon.
  5. It's definitely Clay time.
  6. Can LeBron hit real pitchers any better than MJ could is the question.
  7. moon didn't just say better value, though. He said better season, period.
  8. I'm of the same thinking-don't tinker too much. But apparently a lot of hitters were successful in changing their launch angle to hit more home runs, which was, supposedly, one of the big factors in the long ball increase.
  9. Or even imagine if David was insistent on playing first base. He could probably play first about as well as Miggy Cabrera. I assume it was his issues with his feet that prevented him from ever thinking too hard about that.
  10. I'm an OPS guy myself. JD's OPS numbers have been pretty sweet for a 4 year stretch. 2014 912 2015 879 2016 908 2017 1066 Those numbers are Ortiz-esque.
  11. I think you're going a little overboard predicting that Duda will have a better season than Hosmer.
  12. I don't disagree. I think there may have been a little PR involved. It feels like a team tossing a bone to their long-suffering fans, like when Washington gave that staggering deal to Jayson Werth.
  13. Apparently unless you're Blake Swihart - then it's the time to take Sandy Leon's place on the team.
  14. Everyone will be in? No doubt there are going to be some big deals signed by the elite players. But I think some of the trends we saw this year aren't going away, ever, like the extreme reluctance to give out big contracts to non-elite players.
  15. They don't give the actual pitch counts in the box scores for spring games. Join the club of people who have been getting confused by it.
  16. I certainly took it as such.
  17. The only thing that's inaccurate is that Jackso would probably have conceded we had the better offense.
  18. Under the assumption someone was willing to pick up Young's tab.
  19. The best fastballs are the ones with 'late life', though.
  20. You can do all the head-to-head comparisons you want, but it's the X factors that will probably decide it. Red Sox X factors: How big of a boost will we see from the following factors? -JDM -More aggressive approach -Return to form from Betts and Bogaerts How healthy will David Price be? How well will our 'bridge to Kimbrel' hold up with Smith, Kelly, Barnes, Workman, Thornburg (?) et al?
  21. There's also Jake Peavy. I would go with Buchholz and Peavy, for old times' sake.
  22. As you know, last year we might have signed EE if it wasn't for the mandate to reset the tax rate.
  23. That play by Manny was one of the best of all time. I had completely forgotten that it was Kevin Millar that hit that ball.
  24. Exactly. GM's do not have crystal balls.
