  1. Looks like the Yanks are indeed going to shut out the Stros 3 games in a row.
  2. And why would you assume Swihart would have been acceptable to San Diego in place of Margot?
  3. There's always the possibility Castillo could be needed in an emergency.
  4. To the best of my recollection, as much whining and bellyaching as we have on the forum, no one has said anything bad about Mookie for not signing an extension yet.
  5. I'm pretty sure Henry and Dombrowski are aware of all the issues and have a plan. It would appear they're going to let the option vest if Hanley stays healthy. Also, if he can post a WAR of 2.5 or 3 that has some dollar value does it not?
  6. Loss on April 24. Blown save leading to loss on May 1. But a very unfair statement, needless to say.
  7. The option vesting would have an impact for 2019, but it really shouldn't be a severe impact. Especially if he keeps hitting like he has been.
  8. Yep, he probably has nightmares about Green Monsters.
  9. They haven't won the series against the Stros yet. But if they blank them again today that'd be pretty impressive.
  10. Other: give him a light whack upside the head and tell him to get better fast.
  11. It remains to be seen by exactly how much we overpaid for Kimbrel. I think if anything we overpaid just a little, and that's not a big deal when you're the Red Sox.
  12. Mookie Gotta Stay, that's for freakin' sure.
  13. Mookie's numbers obviously can't stay at this astronomical level, but here is how they stand today: 365/451/823 = 1274 OPS Holy crap.
  14. I'm not exactly scared of the Yankees. There's not much emotion involved. But yes, I'm concerned that they may end up ahead of us at the end of the year. The way it looks right now we might win 98 games and it might not be enough. Under the previous Wild Card system that wasn't such a big deal, but it is now.
  15. His argument, though, is that the Yankees have had a tougher schedule.
  16. Strengthen the offense and weaken the defense. One of those 'pick your poison' deals.
  17. Weaver had some of the very best lines about baseball. Some are very wise, some are hilariously funny and some are both. The one you're referring to is this: 'The key to winning baseball games is pitching, fundamentals and 3-run homers.'
  18. Kelly has been outstanding since his first game mess. I was going to say he's a candidate for closer in 2019. But he's a free agent next year too.
  19. It's certainly possible. I'm happy that it's not me who has to make these kinds of decisions, to tell you the truth.
  20. Of course it's usually not a bad idea to look at what Mr. Epstein is doing. Last year he signed Davis to a one-year deal and got excellent results. This year he signed Brandon Morrow to a two-year deal and Morrow has been excellent so far.
  21. But there are hardly any closers who consistently, reliably post the kind of save percentage that Kimbrel does.
