  1. I don't think so, because if Hanley was the everyday DH that would make JDM the everyday left fielder, and I don't think that was ever a plan.
  2. jackso is OK. But he definitely has an Empire State Erection these days with the run his team is on.
  3. Eh, maybe he's been working hard at it and got over his wall shyness. Stranger things have happened.
  4. Particularly the ones who get traded.
  5. 'Twas Holt got spiked.
  6. Are you serious Tyler?
  7. LOL great thinking Stork, except for one thing: Epstein's scouting department never developed any pitching either.
  8. Good trollin' Stork.
  9. Awesome! We'll all keep it in mind for next March.
  10. Let's face it, most people judge all these deals in hindsight. Even Kimbrel's subpar 2016 season gets factored into assessments of that trade. Shaw is a somewhat unusual case because we saw him for a whole season in 2016 and his production took a very unexpected leap forward at the major league level.
  11. Larry's an insider, it seems.
  12. That's not true. He was a major contributor in the 17-2 start. Some big hits in there.
  13. Sox stat maven Alex Speier reports that JD's defense has been a bit better than expected. Neither positive nor negative but dead average so far.
  14. Yeah, it's true, he doesn't inspire much confidence, I'm afraid. You hope for the best because what else can you do.
  15. Make sure you grind some buds first.
  16. Bad matchup on paper, ain't it? Yankee fans must be salivating. We almost need some reverse lock mojo here.
  17. I'm in the middle when it comes to the new stats. I think there's always a tendency for these things to be taken too far. For example that 450 foot home run. You don't really need to give me the exit velocity. I already had a pretty good hunch the ball was well hit.
  18. Domed stadiums aren't very popular, for whatever reason. Some franchises have even gone from dome to no dome.
  19. I know it probably sounded like a snarky question, but in this case it wasn't meant to be.
  20. Yeah, it's .798. On May 6. One big game and it's back up to .850+. You really do like to mix and match with the sample sizes.
  21. Are you suggesting BABIP is flawed because it excludes home runs?
  22. Now why do you say the Marlins fire sale is attributable to the MLPBA? The same franchise also had a fire sale about 20 years earlier.
  23. I thought a lot of the talk also had to do with back to back World Series champs who tanked their way to the top...
