  1. Yanks lose 12-10 after leading 10-5. Now that's a beautiful thing.
  2. Yanks will probably win but Sabathia got lit up tonight at least.
  3. The thing about a guy like JBJ is that you just don't know if and when he's going to come out of the slump. He won't come out of it sitting on the bench. Cora did give him some time off.
  4. Price vs. Archer A classic matchup tonight, folks. A one-time Rays ace against a current Rays sort-of ace. The Sox have enjoyed some success against Archer in the past, and he is struggling a bit so far this year, with a 5.01 ERA. But you can never take anything for granted in this game, so just win, baby! (And if our hitters are in the mood to kick Archer's butt all over the place, well, that'd be OK too.)
  5. It has a whole lot to do with the fact that he started our first game. Tomorrow night Porcello will catch Sale with his 11th start. If Price didn't have his carpal issues tonight would probably be his 11th start.
  6. Slash might even be right that pitchers feel more comfortable throwing certain pitches knowing JBJ is in centre. There are so many intangibles in this game that no metrics can possibly ever measure.
  7. WTF LOL you have to do something about this, seriously...under the law we are all responsible for the technology we choose to use.
  8. I'll let Cora figure it out, thanks. I mean, we do have some smart baseball people here, but you also notice how much they tend to disagree with each other.
  9. Mookie is so good that it's actually a little surprising when he looks bad in an at-bat.
  10. Your dedication and perseverance against all odds can be quite admirable, Slash... Especially when I agree with your position of course.
  11. I'm almost starting to wonder if the real plan with Hanley is to keep penciling him in until his numbers really justify benching him and coming up short on the vesting option. 'Sorry buddy, we tried to get you to the number but you blew it for yourself!'
  12. There's definitely subjectivity. Shouldn't the missed calls pretty much even out over time, though?
  13. Sale vs. Faria Can we please score some runs in this God-forsaken dump?
  14. We already have Moreland to step in for Hanley.
  15. I didn't say anything about appreciating or not appreciating. All I'm saying is you can ignore whatever you want to ignore.
  16. My basic attitude is that I think the team knows what they're doing more so than a bunch of fans jabbering on a message board - no matter how smart some of us may be.
  17. Nobody's forcing anybody to buy into any stats, be they old ones or new ones. You can watch the games and ignore stats to your heart's content. Well, that's not quite true. If you're watching games on TV you're going to get assaulted with the minutiae. That's the one thing I object to. It's too bad you didn't have the option of filtering out the information you aren't interested in.
  18. Well, I would speculate they might be keeping Swihart primarily as injury insurance. And having him on the 25 man roster hasn't really hurt anything yet. It's not like there's someone in Pawtucket who could be helping us. It's a sour situation for him personally, but I don't really see any detriment to the Red Sox because he's stuck on the bench.
  19. Wrong. For starters, there are no 'traditional stats' for defense, other than errors and fielding %, or base running, other than base stealing #s. So your post is good for nothing. And please stop using that song. It might have been funny the first 500 times...
  20. Well, the only time I'm a Colon fan is when he's pitching against the Yanks...so tonight.
  21. Bradley singled off an Aroldis Chapman 97.2 MPH fastball back on April 11. I refuse to believe his bat speed has declined so much since then that he can no longer catch up to a 92 MPH fastball. It's got to be mechanics, timing. Not loss of bat speed.
