  1. Maybe he already was wrecked. He came into a dirty 8th in Game 4 of the playoff series against Houston last year, with a similar lack of success.
  2. That Full Metal Jacket thing didn't work out so well though LOL
  3. It's just words on a screen. Scroll past 'em.
  4. LOL I read some of your posts about Boone in the early going.
  5. There's no insurance on Price's contract. This was discussed here some time back. The Sox hardly ever take out insurance because-surprise, surprise-the premiums are prohibitively expensive.
  6. The Yankees bullpen has actually blown some games during this hot stretch but each time the offense has bailed them out with a game-winning rally.
  7. All of our best pitchers, Sale, Price, Porcello and Kimbrel, have a shaky track record when it comes to big games, big moments. Kimbrel let us down in the playoffs last year and he did it again last night. It's rather discouraging.
  8. Our pitching development is cursed.
  9. Ah yes, another classic line.
  10. It's a true classic. I've seen it probably a dozen times.
  11. Nicely played...Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove. I'm sure you won't find anything like that in a Yankee game thread.
  12. Because of the actual incidence of crimes, I think. If it was all about racism, the NBA would be the target.
  13. The list of NFL'ers and ex-NFL'ers would take up pages. It's not nicknamed the National Felons League for nothing.
  14. Seems to me that NFL players are the biggest culprits when it comes to instances of crime and misbehavior.
  15. I think so too. Kimbrel's contract was 2 years for 24 million plus an option year at 13 million. Chapman got 86 million.
  16. True, but how many of the kids who play football or basketball in college even go to classes anymore? The whole 'student-athlete' thing has become kind of a joke.
  17. So who would we have traded for Kimbrel?
  18. Sure. But do you think they're playing Hanley at first because they want him to get hurt? Also, I don't think they want JDM playing the field every day because it increases the chances he gets hurt.
  19. Most baseball players aren't just see ball hit ball any more, I don't think. A lot of them study plenty of film. I can't see any particular demographic reason why any of these groups would be smarter than the other, really. I could also argue that anybody who wants to play NFL football and jeopardize their long-term health is about as stupid as they come. If you look at it that way, football players and boxers or UFC guys are easily the stupidest.
  20. And just try to imagine what it would have been like if it was major league pitching you'd been trying to hit.
  21. LOL I think baseball players would fare OK in IQ tests vs. football or basketball players. The average scores for any of these groups wouldn't be super high I don't think.
  22. Disagree, just because Sale didn't lead the team to a championship his first season doesn't mean it hasn't worked. What would the team look like without Sale last year or this?
  23. Well, if you look at Red Sox history I think it works. The basic principle is that there are some guys you just don't trade, like Betts and Bogaerts of recent vintage.
