  1. Along with the draft pick penalties for being over by $40 million plus.
  2. No, but it's JH's money and he won't do it because the penalties for 2018 would be exorbitant, and not only financial ones.
  3. The thing is, Slash, we only pay attention to our injuries. We don't compare ours to other teams.
  4. Is that considered bad game thread mojo? I thought I saw game threads with titles that were very abusive toward the opposition in previous years.
  5. I don't disagree. But I also think the pessimism has something to do with the nature of being a baseball fan. In baseball you are guaranteed to lose a lot of games no matter what. Some fans never seem to learn how to accept or handle this.
  6. The only feasible time to deal JBJ is in the offseason. A team in contention can't trade their starting center fielder without a nifty backup plan which we don't have.
  7. LOL in this case they do.
  8. Even Einstein would take his fair share of flak on a baseball forum.
  9. I think the idea of trading for Lowrie is a credible one.
  10. But if both a Red Sox fan and a Yankee fan think a guy like MADSTORK is a moron, that pretty much makes it official.
  11. You are indeed an idiot.
  12. Have to give him some more time yet, I think. If he turns it around it would be a major shot in the arm. Also I seem to be hearing more positive comments about his defense. As always I let Cora and DD figure this stuff out for me...
  13. I'll tell you one thing, if you can get through life without alcohol, rec drugs and cigarettes, you are going to save yourself an incredible amount of money.
  14. It took a while but I think Duquette finally started to get a lot of hindsight appreciation for the 2004 team. He signed Manny and he made the incredible trades for Pedro and D-Lowe/VTek, after all. And if it's true that Pedro had a lot to do with the Sox signing Ortiz, you could even make a case for a link between Duquette and Papi.
  15. Every GM is judged that way, as you say.
  16. Gameday says Ball 4 was clearly Strike 3.
  17. But you despised the Iglesias for Peavy trade.
  18. As I said in a previous post, Verlander had a 5.57 ERA in his first 8 postseason starts. No lie. You can look it up!
  19. I thought JD was playing today.
  20. White Sox starter is changed from TBD to Carlos Rodon, a lefty making his first start of the year after a rehab stint. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rodonca01.shtml
  21. Eh, the real killer on the Bagwell trade was that he was traded for a 2-month rental of a relief pitcher. A good one, but a setup guy, not even a closer. We got a grand total of 25 innings out of him.
  22. That'll teach him to get on base! AL pitchers getting on base in interleague games are always risky business.
