  1. And in 2 of those 3 starts he gave up 5 runs (in each).
  2. Scherzer has given up more than 2 runs in a game only once all season.
  3. There's something about Price that just isn't right. I think the media is completely in his head. This week he was making sarcastic comments to reporters about whether he was even going to pitch last night, referring back to the tingles game. Then he goes out and throws batting practice. I'll be hoping for the best when he starts his next playoff game for us, needless to say. But I'll be nervous and just a little skeptical too.
  4. The statistics show that the #3 hitter comes up with 2 outs and nobody on base more than any other position. That's the whole issue with it. You have to figure that most of this occurs in the first inning. What other possible explanation could there be? Especially when you've got your 2 highest OBP guys up first and second. Kimmi has said numerous times that the batting order doesn't mean that much and that the statistical stuff should probably be outweighed by putting guys where they're comfortable. Although she seems to making a bit of a big deal about JDF batting third.
  5. Oh sure. I was just responding to the statement that it's rare to have an everyday player under .200 at this point. MLB batting averages are down in general. The average average this year is .246.
  6. Except Sanchez is an offense-first catcher.
  7. Just like the Yankee hitters showed 'no particular abilities' against Sale...weird how that works.
  8. The Yankees' Sanchez was also under the Mendoza line before his injury. It's probably a little more common than you realize.
  9. Of course you would, even though Reed has a 6.10 ERA in the postseason, because you have s*** for brains.
  10. He's made some bonehead plays on the base paths, no doubt about that. But 15 steals in 16 attempts is pretty impressive.
  11. It's Vaz man, Vaz.
  12. It's a million times easier from the armchair.
  13. OTOH Batting 3rd 359/424/648 1072 Batting 4th 303/370/635 1005
  14. That first inning AB was a classic. And you're right, he hustles. He does everything the way you're supposed to.
  15. That was a phenomenal catch last night. One of the key things that a great fielder can do that sometimes gets overlooked is to be able to make a catch like that without getting injured. I love the way JBJ flicked the glove back toward himself as soon as the ball was in it.
  16. Generally annoying as hell, but pretty sweet when it blows up in Yankee fans' faces!
  17. Yeah he really looked hapless.
  18. Something tells me that the Trop would be a hard place to hit because of the optics as well. It looks like it would be like playing in a giant Wal-Mart or something.
  19. The legend of JDM only grew last night. One fantastic at-bat after another. And now we hear Cora saying that he is the team leader.
  20. I think the only way Castillo has a future in Boston is if they trade JBJ this offseason. Which might make sense, although it could be painful.
  21. I think Dombrowski would feel much more kindly disposed toward Castillo if it wasn't for the tax implications.
  22. Right. It can't possibly have anything to do with some parks being more conducive to hitting than others.
