  1. If it's the Brewers, that would be back-to-back series against teams that jumped leagues.
  2. Another one of those freaky coincidences that seem to occur so regularly in baseball - last night was the 10th anniversary of David Price's other great postseason moment, when he recorded the final 4 outs in Game 7 against the Red Sox.
  3. Steven Wright looked pretty spry in the post-game celebration. Any chance?
  4. I'm on board 100% with re-signing him. I'd love it. Whether it's a realistic possibility I have no idea.
  5. I mis-spoke there. What I should have said was 'deadline pickup of a pitcher'.
  6. Here's part of a post from vegasbob after we eliminated the Yankees: This is bound to piss off many blind Red Sox fans since after beating the Yankees I no longer care what happens the rest of the way. Benintendi will never be a serious player , weak arm and no bat when it counts. The offense could not produce a single run since the 4th inning. Astros will own these guys in the ALCS, but nice to make an appearance. In a 7 game series, you better have 4 starters, Sox are one short. Not a Sox fan, just a know-it-all who actually knows jack. Remind you of anyone? STORK.
  7. He outed himself. The clincher was when he pointed out to everyone he'd been away for three weeks. I checked and sure enough, the STORK had been away for the identical 3-week stretch. There's more to it than that, though. Trust me, it's a lock, as they say in vegas.
  8. The Dodgers are a great matchup showbiz-wise.
  9. One of the few things Kimmi was not right about.
  10. I had no idea you were so much older than me. You 'sound' younger. Or maybe it's that picture of the youthful Dewey that does it...
  11. See, they could do things like this. It just seems lazy to me not to try to address it. The other big head-scratcher for me for years has been the right-field bullpen wall in Fenway. It's a menace. If you run into that thing full speed you could be seriously injured. You've got Mookie Betts playing out there, a superstar with a future value in the hundreds of millions. Maybe a little extra padding or something would be an idea.
  12. vegasbob is a troll who also posts as MADSTORK. Check out his posting history and you can see what an incredible fool he is.
  13. Yeah, Cabrera and Roberts were great pickups too.
  14. Nathan Eovaldi - have the Red Sox made a more successful deadline pickup in their history? I'm thinking no.
  15. Here's an observation you won't read anywhere else. There were 2 separate stories about so-called 'trolling' by Red Sox opponents this postseason. Aaron Judge played 'New York, New York'. So New York times 2. Then the Red Sox win the next two. Alex Bregland played a video of 3 home runs. Then the Red Sox win the next three. Kind of a weird mathematical progression going on there.
  16. A shout-out to you and the Aztec Gods. Like I said they were just delayed by a day.
  17. Alex is a wild man. I think he's pretty f***ing good, personally...
  18. Not looking it up...Bogaerts, Workman, Pedroia, Bradley...
  19. Wow, you could hardly draw up a script any more perfect than that! We won this one just like Earl Weaver said you win games: 'Pitching and 3 run homers.'
  20. Some might say this would be all about making the game fairer and easier to officiate, but at the expense of the fans. To which I would say, tell that to Steve Bartman.
  21. I think that's probably bang on, actually. I think Ron Darling said something to that effect.
  22. They could also have netting or some such thing. Probably not Plexiglas like they use in hockey, though.
  23. That's true. But I think baseball is also the only major sport where fans can literally lean over the field of play. Which makes it a great experience for any fans sitting in those seats. It's been clearly demonstrated over time that fans at major league parks are going to grab for balls that are within reach - they are going to interfere at times. So controversies like last night's will happen again - you can count on it.
