  1. See, while the rest of us thought it was an OK signing, nothing to get excited about one way or the other, you were flipping and flopping with your opinion based on how he was going. (Teasing.)
  2. Giving more weight to run production you mean.
  3. Excellent point ken. The farm did indeed bear fruit there.
  4. Your opinion on this is about the same as mine. So it's a knowledgeable and smart one.
  5. JD had a great offensive season. But I'm puzzled why you would choose him over other players that had higher WAR, like Bregman as sk7326 mentioned, who had a 7.6 to JD's 5.9. It seems like you're giving more weight to run production.
  6. He's referring to these allegations of wrongdoing. https://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/mlb/seattle-mariners/article221571265.html
  7. In this case it was more like outrageous suggestions.
  8. Yes, the campaign is underway...Pinch Pennies for Mookie!
  9. Larry's still here, in spirit.
  10. Exactly right. And on defense JD was negative 14.7 runs. The more he played defense, the lower his WAR would have been.
  11. We're all bored. That's why we create things to argue about.
  12. I think Machado has already said he'd be willing to play third under the right circum$tance$.
  13. But if he didn't do well on the biggest 'splash deals' - Sale, Price, Kimbrel and JDM - the 'non-splash' deals wouldn't matter very much.
  14. But in the specific case of JDM, he's an ideal candidate for DH, a great hitter who provides no value on the run prevention side. I would argue that he was indeed 'shielded' from playing the outfield.
  15. This is just funny.
  16. Betts wins you a few games with his glove and his legs (and base running smarts). He has to be rewarded for that.
  17. I'll guess Machado - Yankees 350 mill Harper - Dodgers 350 mill
  18. There's some chatter about the Yankees signing Machado and trading Andujar for pitching. Makes sense.
  19. Ortiz had some high finishes, he was 2nd in '05. Personally I understand why it's hard for a DH to win and don't really disagree.
  20. Not sure what you mean.
  21. The Sox have to be in the neighborhood, as notin said. It's the financial version of the neighborhood play.
  22. No, but it does happen. A-Rod himself was willing to have his contract cut by a fair chunk of money to come to Boston. We all know the rest of that story. When Lester was in the final stages of negotiation he told the Giants they were out, even though they were apparently quite prepared to try to outbid the Cubs and Sox.
  23. Papi is also friends with Jeter. I'm fine with it. The main thing is that he kicked their asses on the field.
