  1. Well yeah, I'm trying to give you a hard time. But it's just a bit irritating to have a Yankee fan come onto a thread about our GM and issue such pompous prognostications.
  2. And you're biased as heck, bordering on blind homer. You were telling us early in 2018 that you had 5 starters in the minors who were already good enough to be big leagues starters. You were talking about guys like Cessa, Adams and Sheffield and the other flameouts when you were talking crap like this.
  3. Judge: good to great player Sanchez: lousy catcher, one-dimensional hitter Torres: too early to call Andujar: too early Severino: some nasty signs in second half and postseason
  4. Your predictions are predictable.
  5. If you're referring to Tito in 2011, it kind of weakens your point, because that was his 8th season with the team. 8 seasons is an eternity in this job.
  6. I do know where you're coming from. He seems like the guy who has the chance of being the perfect Sox manager.
  7. That's my thought too.
  8. Attendance down, viewership down. Owners are making a killing but there are some bearish indicators.
  9. Alex is trying to goad Hal Steinbrenner into a spending spree.
  10. You're cherry-picking big time. Interleague games are real games. And 4 out of 6 WS doesn't mean much. If you went back 3 years further the NL has won 5 of 9. There really isn't a large gap in quality between the two leagues. Not at this point, anyway.
  11. Whoa, this is some seriously caffeinated thinking, Nick. I think there really is something to be said for relaxing and enjoying the 2018 title-for a few days at least.
  12. Are you trying to suggest we're wasting time here?
  13. Hopster! Where have you been?
  14. Absolutely. The World Series MVP award is a joke, really. It's hard enough selecting the correct MVP for a 162 game season. Trying to do it for a 5 game series just gets silly.
  15. Forget the opt-out. The Talksox brain trust has determined that it isn't happening.
  16. I think it's pretty incredible that since 2004 we have won 4 titles with 3 different GM-manager tandems. The one constant is the pale fellow with the large bank account.
  17. Reasonable calls. We'll see how you do.
  18. That was a miracle.
  19. Internet clarification: I was just talking about her little diagram with the greater than signs.
  20. Dombrowski didn't just end a 5 year hiatus though, he had the dream season. 108-54 8 up on the Yankees for the division, even though the Yankees won 100 games themselves. Beat the Yankees in the playoffs. Go 11-3 in the postseason with no opponent winning more than one game (The 1998 Yankees were taken to 6 games by Cleveland in the ALCS.) That's the dream.
  21. I can't see any difference at all.
  22. Moreland did have that nasty second half fade again. But he turned out to be a nice bit player in the postseason to Pearce's lead role. A very small sample of only 19 PA's, but the line was 294/368/529 for an 898 OPS, with a very timely home run.
  23. So Dave doesn't even budge after the team had the dream season, and one of the greatest seasons in baseball history.
  24. That comparison is not quite right LOL
  25. What $5M? Pablo's tax cost is gone after 2019.
