  1. Wright's health is a major question mark to put it kindly.
  2. Proof? Proof? That's the thing. You can make arguments for clutch, and I have done so (Ortiz and Schilling). But there is no proof. Zero.
  3. Why not have him in the pen to start the season? Good long reliever, mopup guy who can handle multi-inning stints. Then, when one of the rotation goes down, as they inevitably will, Johnson can start. His flexibility is a big part of his potential value.
  4. It seems pretty clear that both DD and Cora are quite fond of Nunez.
  5. Whoa. This is interesting. Edit: it's from Cafardo though. A more credible source is needed, methinks.
  6. We actually have a pretty nice case study now in a guy apparently going from un-clutch to clutch. Fellow named Price. In his case I always thought he had a 'monkey on his back' that was a serious mental burden. Fortunately he was able to slay that monkey.
  7. In this lineup, sixth or seventh?
  8. That's good to hear, seriously. If he was really not progressing at all, somebody in the media would be onto it and would be letting us know.
  9. You hit the nail on the head there, it's all just stuff to talk about.
  10. Red Sox fans are a lucky bunch indeed these days. We're leading the way in the 21st century with 4 titles, after all.
  11. Does anybody have the actual quote from Cora?
  12. I can't really agree with that either. We are going to be losing a lot of key players within the next couple of years, that's virtually a fact. It remains to be seen how the front office deals with it all.
  13. The one I saw has the 5 World Series games, Game 5 of the ALCS and Game 4 of the ALDS.
  14. Well, I think you're oversimplifying a tad. Some of the Cliff stuff has clearly been negative about Dombrowski's team-building approach.
  15. A $15M projection for JBJ seems about right.
  16. I'll take on any Cubs fan in a matchup of Blunder vs. Blunder, Mind-Blower vs. Mind-Blower and Weird s*** vs. Weird s***, and leave them kneeling in the dust.
  17. As far as the cliff goes, one thing that's working against us, so to speak, is that we have a team that has a chance to win at least one more championship. If that wasn't the case, we might be looking to do things like trade JBJ for prospects. That's often how farms are rebuilt.
  18. I really hope there was NO ONE who actually believed there was a curse on the team. However, the team did have quite a remarkable history of horrible blunders, mind-blowing defeats and just plain weird s***, and Shaughnessy did a pretty good job capturing and cashing in on all of it.
  19. You're right. Winning the World Series this year was monumental. And had we not done so, the offseason talk would not be happy.
  20. The Sox won't be doing anything about second base. Their needs are strictly in the pitching department and those will be costly enough.
  21. Only about 2.5 months. We'll get through it.
  22. Red Sox fans have MUCH to be thankful for!
  23. He's especially fond of saying they're 'loaded for bear'. Maybe he's a big game hunter in his spare time?
