    I think we just saw one of those costly defensive plays that don't show up in the box score with Davis failing to catch the foul pop by Mookie, and Mookie walking on the next pitch for a run.

    Jackie really does need to turn it around. He has un ungodly bWAR of minus 1.4. What's especially concerning is that his defensive WAR numbers are about as bad as his offensive WAR numbers.

    You can actually find some of the answers to this with WAR. That's what it's good for! As much as I hate to say it, Exhibit A for why offense has considerably more value than defense is our old buddy DJ. Jeter was ringing up WAR's of 3 and 4 even when he was the worst defensive shortstop in baseball. For his career he ended up with oWAR of 96.3 and dWAR of -8.3.

    Very true, especially with Eovaldi also on the shelf. Just have to hope it's not a long stint for Price.

    To be precise, he's played 700 games. That's 4.67 150 game seasons. Using the 150 game yardstick his average WAR is 2.5 per season.

    In the Bee Game, won by Cincy 12-4, Pomeranz was the starting pitcher for the Giants, giving up 7 runs in 1.2 IP. The Giants bright spot was Pablo Sandoval, who hit a 3 run homer and also pitched a scoreless 8th inning (not kidding).
