    I don't disagree at all about Mookie. But if we get into players getting paid strictly on what they deserve, you have to deal with the other side of it too-all the players who deserve pay cuts or termination without pay.

    The Sox actually brought the WS trophy to Halifax after the 2007 season and I went to the showing. There were 2 big burly guys standing on either side of the stage. I couldn't help thinking it would be a fairly comical scene if someone grabbed the trophy and tried to make a run for it.

    I hear what you're saying. But Mookie's making 20 million this year and it'll be closer to 30 million next year. Arb salaries have been steadily going up, that's why I'm saying it doesn't really seem to be the problem. The players who are really getting short-changed are the pre-arb guys who have big seasons.

    Weird. It seems to me that arbitration salaries should be just about the least of the players' concerns, though.

    The best fictional sports movie I've seen is Big Fan. I didn't think Fever Pitch was all that bad.

    I noticed that vegasbob and MADSTORK both disappeared for a while at the same time and then returned at the same time. I then accused vegasbob of it several times and he didn't refute it.
