  1. Walden, Brasier and Hembree were credited with holds. Taylor was not. Judgment call, I guess.
  2. This is half of what was originally projected for Kimbrel. It doesn't seem like a crazy deal to me.
  3. If Keuchel pitches well, $13 mill is far from unreasonable, considering the small commitment and the potential for a playoff run at *no additional charge*. It's a sizeable if of course.
  4. Too much money for coupon-clipper Hal.
  5. Chalk it up. Station is on a Streak.
  6. Danny Duffy...Brian Flynn...KC is throwing the Fighting Irish at us today.
  7. Weber isn't even Mike Maddux.
  8. "Advanced metrics sure put a lot of money in my pocket!" - Jason Heyward
  9. JDM has been toggling between 3rd and 4th since the start of last season.
  10. I don't know, I have no issue with Bogey in the 3 spot.
  11. I can't really assess the return. But it's out of the ordinary for a team like the Red Sox to sign a player to what was at the time a big contract, and then trade them after one season. I'd say yes, Theo wanted him out of town, but maybe wouldn't have traded him unless he got a return he could live with.
  12. Do you seriously think the primary reason Theo Epstein traded Renteria was media pressure?
  13. Lefty on the mound changes things?
  14. The key point is that Theo dealt him, taking a financial bath in the process.
  15. Hardly anyone thinks you're insane for wanting Porcello back.
  16. You can certainly make a case that Renteria struggled due to Boston pressure, based on the following circumstantials. 1) 'Warning' from LaRussa that he wasn't a good fit for Boston. 2) Lousy season. 3) Shipped out promptly by Theo at a loss.
  17. cp, I set up a separate thread for this like I promised. Why won't you post there?
  18. 2019 - 10 mill 2020 - 16 mill 2021 - 16 mill 2022 - vesting/team option thingamajigs with 1 mill buyout
  19. Cora says Devers has been working his ass off on D. Great stuff.
  20. Maybe that was as good as it got.
  21. ??? Kimbrel and the Cubs have a deal.
  22. I believe the actual prevailing narrative on Shaw was that his minor league numbers were not that impressive, and that when he faded in the second half in 2016 he was reverting to what he really was.
  23. There's no question that JBJ is so much better when he's going to left. That double tonight was a very nice piece of hitting, taking an outside breaking ball and driving it over the left fielder's head.
  24. Yeah that one be far from over.
