  1. Well, he did post a .901 OPS for us in 50 regular season games last year. Not too shabby.
  2. Even Kimmi liked the JDM contract.
  3. Papi treated us extremely well. I think he could have gotten a bit more on the open market. I think we were pretty happy with the JDM contract.
  4. Depends what you mean by a good relief pitcher.
  5. C'mon, let's be reasonable. Pearce's contract was less than 10% of Nate's. It had a minor impact.
  6. Nope. Papi made $16 mill in each of his last 2 years, 2015 and 2016.
  7. Mr. Shithappens was a major culprit that year.
  8. Wrong, wrong, absolutely wrong. It was $95 mill...
  9. Brian Johnson last started on August 14, so I assume it's him. Who else could it be?
  10. 22 mill is fine when he's this good. EVERYBODY liked signing JD at that price.
  11. Yes, yes, I knew that was coming LOL But Ottavino has pitched about equally in the 6th, 7th and 8th and has been the guy regularly used in those high leverage situations prior to the 9th and with men on base, so he does contradict your position.
  12. JD - 5 years @ 22 mill average He has opt-outs after this year and next. He was a fine signing by DD.
  13. Everybody loves Devers and XBo right now. With good reason. But it wasn't always so. What have ya done for me lately? is the cry of most fans.
  14. Most of the guys on the team were in a parade last year IIRC Benintendi shouldn't be going anywhere, for one thing. There's been talk of trading him. I think that's pure nuttiness.
  15. It is a skill, no question. But the fact that the catcher can steal strikes by how he frames the pitch is not really a good argument against robot umps-IMHO
  16. The opt out thing is over with. He's ours.
  17. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.
  18. The Yankees have been using Ottavino in that high leverage fireman role and it has worked pretty well for them.
  19. Nola vs. No idea LOL
  20. It's never going to be easy being head of baseball ops of the Boston Red Sox. Theo is gone. Ben is gone. DD will soon be gone. Combined they won 4 titles, the most of any team this century. And yet they're all goners...
  21. Fixed that for you.
  22. I hear that. I was watching the Rays game last night and you're damn right I was pulling hard for them to lose.
  23. The rocket ball and the nonstop commercials are all about the same thing...it's money driving the bus.
  24. Well, if they thought there were enough people REALLY interested in commercial-free broadcasts they would probably offer them, at a hefty price of course. We sometimes wonder where all the money comes from to pay the players' astronomical salaries. A huge chunk of it obviously must be coming from all the advertisers.
