  1. Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  2. I'm sure they wish it could be that simple.
  3. Of course, it must be said that the Red Sox front office has sent out multiple signals of the possibility of Betts being traded.
  4. It's all rumors AFAIK.
  5. Maybe Dave wanted too much. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Just something to quibble about.
  6. Another question is, who would the Dodgers be bidding against for Betts? If the Dodgers are the only team seriously interested, why should they give us a big haul? Especially if they think we're a little desperate about doing this to get under the 208 million mark.
  7. How can that be, seriously? FanGraphs says: 2017 value $1.7 million 2018 value $2.3 million And he was making minimum wage for 2019. Doesn't that equate to a small plus trade value?
  8. He might have had a smidgeon at the end of 2018.
  9. Get a pitcher?
  10. Do you actually like it, or is it just not as bad as some of the other options?
  11. It's a good news day then.
  12. Sure. But we'll have to eat a chunk of money. There are no options that are going to be especially pleasant.
  13. Moyer is no matinee idol either. But both are good-looking next to Randy Johnson.
  14. The Mission Impossible capers are cake compared to the task Bloom has been assigned.
  15. Now your madcap sense of humor is showing.
  16. We haven't got that kind of money.
  17. I'd try just about anything for 2020.
  18. Oh yeah - my signature line means a lot to me.
  19. It's fun to gloat about Ellsbury, but I'm not sure we would want to see a head to head comparison between the Sox & Yankees on which team has flushed the most money down the toilet over the last 10 years or so.
  20. Because the law of averages suggests that he might stay healthy enough this year to show if he's actually good at baseball...
  21. Because this way creates more interest and debate and all that - the entertainment factor.
  22. They both matter, really.
  23. Schilling should be a slam dunk IMO. If 80.5 WAR and an awesome postseason resume doesn't get you in, that's f***ed up.
  24. Jack Morris is a perfect example of what people mean when they say it's not supposed to be the Hall of the Very Good.
  25. I honestly don't think Jack Morris should be in the Hall, and yes, my starting point for that statement is his career WAR. Morris's career bWAR is 43.5. Schilling's is 80.5. Hello?
