  1. You were MIA for a little while.
  2. I just posted updated numbers on the budgie thread.
  3. Updated tax numbers per Cot's and Spotrac. The big difference is in the projected cost for minimum wage major league contracts. Spotrac's number is for 20 players @ 585,000. Cot's is only for 10 players @ 575,000. But Spotrac also projects a higher number for minor league players. It's all a bit baffling, even to a budgie. Cot's Spotrac Difference 1 Price, D 31,000,000 31,000,000 0 2 Sale, C 25,600,000 25,666,666 66,666 3 Betts, M 27,500,000 27,700,000 200,000 4 Martinez, JD 22,000,000 23,750,000 1,750,000 5 Bogaerts, X 20,000,000 20,000,000 0 6 Eovaldi, N 17,000,000 17,000,000 0 7 Pedroia, D 13,750,000 13,750,000 0 8 Bradley, J 11,500,000 11,000,000 -500,000 9 Rodriguez, E 9,000,000 9,500,000 500,000 10 Perez, M 6,000,000 6,000,000 0 11 Benintendi, A 4,250,000 4,900,000 650,000 12 Vazquez, C 4,516,667 4,516,667 0 13 Workman, B 3,250,000 3,400,000 150,000 14 Barnes, M 3,000,000 3,000,000 0 15 Peraza, J 3,000,000 3,000,000 0 16 Hembree, H 1,500,000 1,600,000 100,000 17 Osich, J 850,000 850,000 0 18 Hernandez, M 650,000 650,000 0 0-to 3-yr players 5,750,000 11,670,000 5,920,000 40-man-minors 2,250,000 2,500,000 250,000 Est Benefits 15,000,000 15,000,000 0 Projected Payroll 227,366,667 236,453,333 9,086,666
  4. Yep. To the Porcello dismissers, this was a case of 'careful what you wish for'.
  5. You're an idiot.
  6. You're an idiot.
  7. Big extra credit for Godot references.
  8. He said that in reference to the idea of including any prospects to facilitate a trade of Price. My take is that they want to accomplish the payroll cutting without losing prospects in the process. That doesn't equate to a tear down.
  9. They have to trade JBJ and Price, at minimum.
  10. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/12/david-price-trade-rumors-red-sox-padres-wil-myerss.html
  11. I think this will raise payrolls by about $400K. Major league minimum for 2020 is $563,500. But payroll for tax purposes is based on the 40 man roster. That will now include 14 minor leaguers instead of 15. It looks like minor leaguers on the 40 man make about $150,000.
  12. They ended up going over by 2.5 million.
  13. Would that really be worth it? We gave up an excellent prospect in Buttrey as it was.
  14. Well, those deadline acquisitions they made in 2018 helped them win the World Series, so I'd call that a point.
  15. He also stays healthy and eats innings.
  16. It's been rumored, quite plausibly, that the Yanks will sign Maldonado because of his excellent CERA with Cole.
  17. Sweet, he even got a raise.
  18. Sometimes you have no choice but to get worse now to be better later. Like in 2012 with the Dodgers trade.
  19. It's worth noting that the contracts of Tanaka, Paxton & LeMahieu all expire in 2020.
  20. Not to worry, I see Clay Buchholz taking Porcello's place.
  21. So we would have to replace 3 starters. Meanwhile the cheaper options are being priced at 9-10 million. You must think Bloom is Merlin and Gandalf rolled into one LOL
  22. Every case is different IMHO.
  23. Now we must prepare ourselves for the inevitable reminder that he doesn't measure his personal worth by the success, or lack of, of his sports teams.
  24. Sorry, like I say, we're usually talking LT number now...
