Maybe because Dombrowski had 3 division winners and one team that went 108-54 and won it all, and Bloom has done nothing yet. Not everyone is into the deep analysis of all the whys and wherefores like you and I are...some folks truly focus on results.

AFAIK Price is not paid by anyone for 2020. So if he had stayed, the situation would be the same.

From the sounds of it, the preferred narrative he's referring to is that JDM is only in a temporary slump.

The Sox could absolutely afford Mookie. They just didn't want to pay him $30 million a year till he's 40. And I knew the cliff was a real possibility. My avatar was just trying to be funny about it.

Somebody mentioned how great it was that Yaz played his whole career with the Sox and was productive almost till the end. And it was great. But I think Yaz was on one-year contracts most of the time. Now you have to sign a 12-year contract to keep your superstar. That's crazy.
