  1. Dear John When you guys decide to tank, you don't fool around!
  2. "Shrunken head season" - I like it.
  3. I know this well.
  4. That assumes that they're poorly managed, though, to a certain degree. Right now Mookie is playing like a beast, as he surely can, and it's making us cringe. Have to keep in mind his new contract starts next year and runs until 2032, when he turns 40.
  5. Either that or adjust to a new career in insurance sales or something. Feeling cynical today...
  6. Jeez Denny. That was just the last thing Bloom said in the interview with Abraham. Besides, what the heck do you expect him to say. He comes into a situation where he's told to trade Betts and Price, he's given a tiny budget for signing players, the incumbent manager is fired, Sale needs TJ surgery, E-Rod is gone with Covid-19, there's no players ready on the farm etc. etc. I was not one of the big Dombrowski bashers here, but he really didn't leave the team in good shape.
  7. Could be a valid point on the arbitration lowball. We'll never know if that made any difference of course. But there's no doubt this could haunt the team a long time.
  8. I hear you Danny.
  9. The team is awful, but JBJ is not exactly distinguishing himself. He has a slugging pct. of .281.
  10. Unfortunately JBJ will have to take a cut to play anywhere next year. He's fading into irrelevancy.
  11. Betts may have been deemed unaffordable no matter what. When they offered him 310 million, maybe they had a ceiling price of 330-340 million in mind. When he came back with 420 million they knew it was adios. John Henry actually said at one point they expected to be able to keep 2 of Betts, Bogaerts & Sale but not all 3. That turned out to be the case.
  12. Mazza vs. Happ It's Mazza's first major league start. Now to the chasing history part, and the reason I was excited to start this thread. The Red Sox have allowed 8 runs or more in 6 straight games. According to Alex Speier, that is a new franchise record. But the really amazing fact from Speier: if the Sox allow 8 runs or more tonight, with a streak of 7 games they will tie the All. Time. Major. League. Record.
  13. In a situation like this, it's virtually impossible to tell if Roenicke is good, bad or indifferent.
  14. Method 3 is a balance of these two, and is actually the one that has been most successful, I believe.
  15. I think we already had it.
  16. Now here is a lock that is not reversible.
  17. Holy crap! These two guys are both built like Marvel super-heroes, but they are fragile as heck. Good call BTW.
  18. It's not that simple. Cheating of various sorts has been part of baseball forever.
  19. I'm not sure that's the way it worked. I think the writing was on the wall when they offered Mookie 310 million and he countered with 420 million.
  20. Truthfully, I watch some Dodgers games simply because a lot of them are broadcast on our sports channels and it's something to watch late at night. Vin was a god, of course.
  21. Don't go out on a limb, man.
  22. Yeah, you know, I thought I might like watching Dodgers games with Mookie, but it's pretty painful, actually.
  23. This roster is in such bad shape I think you just hang onto the actual good players who have time left on their contracts. Trade relievers W/B/H at the deadline. We'll have money to spend in the offseason on pitching. As for this year's team, it's unwatchable for me. Good time for Fenway to be empty, that's for sure.
