  1. Of course you're trying to argue, Denny. You repeatedly point to the team's record this year and talk about how "Bloom supporters" will back him no matter what. It's fine to argue, we all do it here.
  2. I think the advent of the 12-13 year contract is a bad thing for everyone. It virtually guarantees that even the greatest of players, like Trout and Betts, will one day represent painful financial burdens to their teams.
  3. What's a little silly is how political this stuff can get. dgalehouse launches an attack against the 'Bloom supporters'. moon hits right back against the 'DD supporters'. Come on folks, does everything have to work that way - you're either in one camp or the other? It strikes me as a little weird.
  4. We all see some things differently.
  5. The Yankees offense had some crazy over-performance last year from guys who replaced the injured regulars. This year a huge correction has taken place.
  6. Ah yes, "the Bloom supporters". The brainwashed nerds waving the pompoms for Chaim no matter what he does and no matter how the team sucks. Personally, I supported DD when he was here, and I'm supporting Bloom now. I generally believe you should support the current guy because you don't have much choice in the matter.
  7. OK. When you mentioned Peraza I thought you meant this year. Not sure if he'll be back next year or not.
  8. 2020 is not the year to be starting any clocks though.
  9. If Mookie stays healthy, he could be productive for 7-8 years of the deal IMO. Staying healthy is the big if.
  10. Certainly can't rule this stuff out as a factor, unfortunately.
  11. How so? I don't follow other teams arbitration situations much, but I know the Red Sox have had very few contentious arbitrations and usually avoid them altogether. Plus we're talking about a caliber of player (and consequently high arbitration value) that's not even seen very often.
  12. How many is "lots"?
  13. Mike is having a tremendous season. 297/412/588 - 1.000 OPS 2.2 bWAR I looked up his contract status. He won't be a free agent until 2026, when's he's 35 going on 36.
  14. As far as I know, Mookie has never said one negative thing about playing in Boston. So any idea that he didn't like Boston seems like pure speculation.
  15. Daniel Bard's amazing comeback continues. Now the Rockies' closer. Great story.
  16. Gary Sanchez is toast.
  17. Canadians have such good attitudes.
  18. It is interesting that the 365 was the exact midpoint of the 310 and the 420. The other thing we'll never know is how much impact the pandemic had on Mookie's thinking.
  19. It was reported that when the Red Sox made an offer of $310 million, Mookie's side countered with $420 million, and that was the end of "negotiations". We'll never know if the Red Sox could have signed him for a lower amount, but it seems a fair assumption that lower amount would not have been much lower than $400 million.
  20. Well, the final 2 years of Price's deal fall in the first 2 years of Mookie's deal. So it was a hindrance, but not a huge obstacle IMHO.
  21. The jury is out.
  22. Yes, it's been a weird ride. Sure can't complain about the 4 rings though.
  23. Well, if Bloom does his job, we should have a relatively large amount of flexibility going forward, especially beginning in 2023.
