2 of Eovaldi's last 3 IL stints were to clean up 'loose bodies' from his last TJ surgery. That seems like bad luck more than being injury-prone. The other was for a minor calf strain.

The most surprising thing about Lackey's contract is that it actually yielded a plus value by FanGraphs calculations, when you factor in the minimum wage season in 2015.

Lackey actually had a 3.3 fWAR in the first year of his deal. That's far from worthless.

I've never seen a pitching staff collapse at the end as badly as that one did. The numbers are staggering.

I get it. We were talking about this earlier. On the one hand it would be nice to protect him from getting hurt in meaningless games. On the other, if teams start shutting guys down for that reason, it creates some possible issues for the integrity of the sport.
