  1. JA Happ got 3/36 in this market. Is Price worth 2.5 times what Happ got for AAV? Fangraphs seems to think so, since Price has put up triple the WAR (32.0 to 10.8) and dollar amount (230.5 to 77.6) that Happ has even though he's been a full time player for one less year. It's the fruit the market's bearing.
  2. Samrdzija to the Giants for 5/90
  3. My life is over. I shall commit seppuku.
  4. Back to baseball: Tracy Ringolsby wrote in a column yesterday that he thought the Red Sox would sign Yoenis Cespedes, as he suspected Dombrowski would go for another one of the guys he acquired (and traded) before last season. He would command a significant amount of dollars, and IMO, is not likely to age well. Signing him, however, would open up a lot of scenarios where the Sox move OF pieces for some more pitching. Thoughts?
  5. I'll let it be. But you should take your own advice as well. People can speak for themselves.
  6. Or the could be Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts. You don't know that either. You know just as little as anyone else here about how those prospects could develop. You don't have to be a presumptuous, condescending prick about it either, and then play the victim card when people call you out on your BS.
  7. Yeah they were hyping that up in the afternoon. Wow.
  8. Hey Spitball! Nice having you around! How's it hanging?
  9. The "ol' boys network" point is a good one though. Lots of overqualified guys sitting pretty behind some guys who really couldn't run a 7-11. Want proof? Jack Zdurienick is living proof. However, that simply wasn't the case with Cherington. He's qualified to run a franchise, and could've done a heck of a better job if ownership had just decided on an actual course of action instead of flip-flopping every year. Also, Lucchino. f*** that guy. I'm glad he's gone.
  10. A lot of big words and not a lot of actual substance to the argument. He deserves credit for the WS, and the blame for the last place finishes, which is why he's no longer here. It's not rocket science. It's easy to analyze someone's credentials and qualifications from the comfort of one's couch isn't it?
  11. Very much so. But they're obviously in "win-now" mode.
  12. When did Jacko become a good poster? How did this happen? What Yankee fan am I going to s*** on now? Nothing makes sense anymore.
  13. Now he never impressed anyone! Hindsight! But seriously, Cecchini is another example of this organization's poor use of its assets. That's why BC is sitting at home and DD is now the big boss around here. You can't "hoard" prospects. You need to cash in on some of them.
  14. Need to get Beckett out of retirement.
  15. The above post was for Meh, not Jacko.
  16. Did you actually check their respective stats before making that comment? I'm guessing no, because Igawa is not even in the same planet as Maeda as far as the ability to throw strikes and limiting walks and hits is concerned. Igawa had a 1.26 WHIP and 2.9 BB/9 in his career in Japan. Maeda has a 1.04 career WHIP and a 1.9 BB/9 in his career.
  17. I'd love to add Lee for depth, so he could be ready to step in when Buchholz inevitably goes on the DL for half the season.
  18. Can't build it based on worst-case scenario either. But as much as I liked the Red Sox' overall chances last season (mostly based on offense and the ability to add pitching in-season) I was critical of the lack of depth, because some guys had the potential to blow up, which is what happened. Nonetheless, Cherington brought this team a championship, and there are other things to talk about, like what is David Price going to do with ALL OF THE MONEY.
  19. Where, and how, did you come up with that?
  20. Banned. Also, no one here actually cares about other people's opinions on Ben Cherington. He's gone. Let it go.
  21. In the end, these aren't the Boston Cherington Sox. He's gone, and things seem to be trending up. Let it the f*** go people.
  22. Nope, he just won't do that. He's also fond of overreaching in his interpretations. Cherington was not fired. He left of his own volition. Signing Dowmbrowski wasn't done with the idea to get rid of Cherington. If they wanted to be completely rid of BC's philosophy, they wouldn't have hired Hazen as GM.
  23. You forgot to say "ironically".
  24. Some people seem to forget how goddamn hard it is to win a WS, considering the fact that this team lasted all of 86 years without winning a single one. A lot of people here flaunt their "intelligence" with big words, yet disregard some pretty basic logical concepts.
  25. Damn, I have to admit, you've really improved as a poster. Would still superplex you if given the chance though, by virtue of being a Yankees fan.
