  1. Would anyone put it past some of the players to intentionally tank games in order to get BV sacked?
  2. I have to admit I'm getting a sick laugh out of this. The players ran Tito out of town, and now they see that the grass isn't greener....Woops.
  3. I'm sure that the F.O. have circled the wagons and issued a gag order club-wide on this. Whether they agree with BV or not, they want this story quashed.
  4. Yep, good point. It probably wasn't the smartest appointment they could have made. It'll be interesting to see where we are in July and if the manager digs in his heels or is put on the back heel by the players more and more.
  5. I'm for organ music only. No pre-recorded music of any kind. If fans want to sing, they should start up a song like they do in English soccer. Work for it.
  6. I agree with this. You know, it's possible that Youk HAS been slacking off this spring, and BV and other staff have noticed it. BV was brought in to break players out of their little comfort zone of running the asylum. So he called out Youk for his slow start and (possible) diminished effort. I'm fine with that. I DON"T like his backtracking and half assed apologizing. Basically he's let Pedroia scold him and now he looks weak. What we just witnessed was the first and perhaps the last power struggle of the Bobby V era. And the players won. Can you imagine a player on the Tigers dissing Leyland like Pedey dissed BV? Incredible. Bobby V=Tito 2.0
  7. BV is a self-promoting twunt. But at this particular stage in Red Sox Land, his shoot from the hip style is better than Tito's Aww shucks style, in my opinion. That's why he's here, for chrissakes. The sooner people get their heads around it, the better, fans and players alike.
  8. He knows Youk is on the downside of his career, and maybe he's trying to light fire under him. I've no problem with that. In fact, I wouldn't mind Bobby going all around the roster and putting them all on notice. And that's pretty ballsy of Pedroia to say "That's not how we do things here" Well how DO you guys do things here, Justin? Pig out on chicken and beer and play Grand Theft Auto while the team embarks on the worst September choke in history? These entitled players need to take it on the chin, and get to work. My boss can be a prick too. But I don't get paid $20,000,000.00 a year with a 6 month vacation. Suck it up, Red Sox. It's a privilege to play for this club, don't forget it.
  9. It makes sense to have the Spring Training park identical to Fenway....but if they ever build a new ballpark up here, creating a Fenway replica would be a disappointment. They should just leave the legacy of Fenway alone, and create a whole new and unique ballpark for a new era....in my opinion.
  10. I'm optimistic about being $20 richer
  11. Such a shame they couldn't get a new ballpark built at the Seaport....easy public transportation options, 93 tunnel right there....Imagine the Boston skyline as a backdrop...with the harbor behind the park...They could have built a new and unique park, not a Fenway replica, but an entirely different park, although building it in a retro style. Fenway is great and all, but it's not THAT great. look at the green metal panelling all around the press box where it says "Fenway Park"...it looks lame. Just panels of green metal. And the red Fenway Park letters are PLASTIC. The seats suck, many of the sight lines are awful if not totally obstructed....Fenway is not pretty like Wrigley, nor is it imposing like the old Tiger Stadium. It's just kind of there. Yes, it has an aura about it, and you can feel the heritage and tradition....but at the end of the day, it's just a dumpy old baseball stadium.
  12. Not good. His rehab history suggests that 6 weeks is a laughable estimate...I bet you he's not back until July, and that he'll struggle the rest of the season once he's back. This is a total disaster, basically. One look at our OF now and I cry.
  13. Anyone who EXPECTS to win a World Series is foolish to begin with, and probably isn't much of an informed baseball fan. However, if someone is unhappy with a player who he thinks should be doing better, or a manager who he thinks has made a tactical error, or a player who puts his foot in his mouth...venting on a fan forum is perfectly acceptable in my opinion.
  14. Eh, it's along season with ups and downs, and when there are downs, people like to vent....I think a fan forum is as good a place as any to do just that. Winning is not a Red Sox fan's birthright, but angst sure is....
  15. But....it's "AMERICA'S MOST BELOVED BALLPARK".....
  16. When a reporter asks a player how he feels about losing a tough game, I'd like the player to say something other than "Nothing." It's an insult to the players that battled all game, and it's an insult to the fans who pay good money for NESN, who I'm sure felt more than "Nothing" after that debacle...
  17. From The Herald: “My feeling? Nothing, man,” Aceves said defiantly. “The season started. There’s nothing we can do. It’s a game, dude. It’s a game. That’s what happened. Some days they hit it, some days they don’t. It’s one series. Even the (New York) Yankees got swept (by the Tampa Bay Rays).” Nice...you know how I feel, Fredo? Disgusted. Show some f*cking pride, you jackass
  18. I can see how his general demeanor strikes people as arrogant and dickish...that is in fact, how he comes across, in my opinion too. I can't judge what he's like as a person, and frankly, I don't really care. I just want the guy to throw strikes and win games. He won't be the last good pitcher to get battered by Detroit this year....
  19. Talk about a sarcasm interpretation deficiency....
  20. Pedey seems the obvious choice, but I think they should drop the captain thing, at least for this year. Let the manager be the captain, have the players unified, and get on with it.
