  1. LOL I liked Maddon, and still do, but my opinion nosedived after hearing him get on his high horse the other night...I think he's taking the nice guy persona a little too far.
  2. I caught a bit of it on Sportscenter, anyone know what happened?
  3. This should be in the off-topic forum, it has nothing to do with the Red Sox.
  4. I picked up Trout over Harper in my fantasy league.....I win
  5. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/other_mlb/view/20120524report_steinbrenners_shopping_yankees_around/srvc=home&position=5
  6. Youk for Blanton, sign Oswalt, put Bard back in the bullpen, done.
  7. I think he's a New Englander, but I know what you mean. He has that cookie cutter sound that has nothing unique about it.
  8. I think Joe is starting to wind down his career, so the nod to O'Brien is due to that, and I think Joe is fine with it. I'm not fine with it, because I find O'Brien to be insufferable. The WAY he emphasizes words is retarded. Say the Red Sox are down 2-0, and score a run. O'Brien will say "Ortiz scores to make it TWO to one"......Well we already know the opposing team has two runs...the emphasis should be reversed. "Two to ONE".....I know, I'm nitpicking, but it's just one of many reasons why I can't stand the guy. The way he draws out words that end in the letter S.....so annoying. The buttery voice just bothers me. And his attempts at humor usually fall flat. Joe will give an obligatory "He-he", but you know he doesn't think it's funny either...I miss Troop.
  9. You better hope they are money motivated. They know the money is in the Champions League, that's why they gave Dalglish all that money to spend. Unfortunately it blew up in their faces, so heads had to roll. I think Henry will keep both clubs until one (or both) of them starts bleeding money. I wouldn't worry too much about Henry's dedication to LFC. He came in, paid off all your debt and splashed out the cash. What else can you ask of a new owner? I don't know how your new stadium thing plays into his thinking, but if I were you, I'd be pleased to have him as owner.
  10. He'll sell Liverpool before he sells the Red Sox.
  11. But that's the problem at hand- yes, we all know Beckett has the talent. But it's become increasingly clear that he just can't be bothered to nurture that talent or apply that talent. And when he has a bad outing, he comes across as apathetic about it, at best. At worst, he comes across as aloof, arrogant and contemptuous of fans. There are many things wrong about the ball club, and if you have to put a face on it, you have to put Double Chin Beckett on it. He's a disgrace to the uniform, and he needs to be removed from the ball club.
  12. Also the line "We only have 18 off days a year" ARE YOU f***ING KIDDING ME? WTF DO YOU DO BETWEEN OCTOBER AND FEBRUARY, YOU FAT SLOB?
  13. Notice how Beckett said "Smart fans."? To me that comes across as spit in the face, it's clear he was taking the piss.
  14. He's struggling so bad, maybe a couple of weeks in Pawtucket would be good for him. It'll never happen, but I'd love it
  15. Gotta watch out for rogue waves, too
  16. Maybe John Henry can take the team out on his yacht again. You know, to "bond".
  17. Don and Jerry reminiscing about the 2000-2004 Red Sox, and how much "fun they were to be around"....I can't help but read between the lines and think that they believe this current team are a bunch of apathetic, heartless *******s.
  18. The GM of the Phillies said today that they will be selling come June if they don't improve. Lee or Halladay, please
  19. Total slob of a pitcher, just a useless, fat twunt. I'm glad fans let him have it after he was yanked. Get him out of my baseball club
  20. What I find noteworthy is the brazenness of him playing golf, in Boston, in full view of anyone with a camera. It just goes to show that he couldn't care less about the ball club, the fans, his teammates, and the general public perception of him. I always thought he was an arrogant *******, but he was our ace, so you overlook those things. Now that he's intentionally taking a knee, coming off the September collapse, I'm just mystified at how someone can disrespect the Boston Red Sox like he's been doing. This season is already a lost cause, you'd have to be a big time homer with blinders on to think we'll be winning anything come October. I say ship him out. Trade him to an NL contender for pitching prospects. Or package him and prospects for an established younger pitcher like Johnny Cueto. Or send him back to Texas, where he belongs. Beckett for Colby Lewis. Eat some of the contract, and get him the f*ck outta here. I really hope fans let him hear it. "ASS-HOLE!....ASS-HOLE...." could be a good one.
  21. Anyone going to the game tonight should bring in a bunch of golfballs and chuck them at Beckett
  22. He played a full round of golf last Wednesday, in the rain, the day after he was scratched for the following Saturday game due to lat tightness/pain. He also refused to pitch in the marathon extra inning game on Sunday, and we know how that ended. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1178307-josh-beckett-golf-stunt-proves-red-soxs-problem-child-cant-be-controlled
