  1. I like talking about this kind of stuff. We have an iconic uniform, complete with old timey font. We've "modernized" with the red and blue shirts. But there is something stale about what the club does with the uniform. I like the number style a lot. It sort of belong to the Red Sox in the sports world. The team name font is obviously often associated with us as well. We used to have double piping along the pants and around the bottom of the shirt sleeves. It's superior to the current single stripe. Really sharp look and more current as well. I think players should be MANDATED to wear the official stirrup style socks with the black upper stripe. Or at the very least wear red socks that you can see. (None of the pants pulled down under the cleats look). Also only black or red cleats, no pink or yellow, etc. The team logo (the one at the top of this page) is really dated and needs an update, in my opinion. Just like soccer teams update their badge from time to time, so should we. Because the ball club still acts like a dinosaur, they'll never change a thing, but what do you guys think?
  2. New Free Agent, would come with a big injury discount. New GM should make this a priority signing. Huge upside if he can stay healthy.
  3. I must defend my title. Sign me up.
  4. Hanley appears to be the odd man out.
  5. Are we in for JD Martinez as well? he hits for a better AVG than Stanton
  6. I like the move. Youngest manager ever for the club?
  7. Thanks for a fun season guys. Count me in for next season!
  8. Good point, the divisions seem to sort of not entirely make sense. Unless I'm missing something, it's possible that someone with a better record misses out on the playoffs to someone with a worse record?
  9. If Lance McCullers told Nolan Ryan to f*** off on an airplane, it'd be a story in Houston, too, so IMO, this isn't just about the swarming Boston media, the story has legit play. Who leaked the story to begin with, and why? Ooh, the intrigue.
  10. Ouch. Kershaw down again with back issues. I need Cueto to come back strong, he's been disappointing so far.
  11. Yep, the kid seems to be poised to have a real stormer of a season. Exciting stuff.
  12. A 2017 infield of Leon-Mooreland-Pedroia-Boegarts-Sandoval doesn't exactly make you shiver...I think this season will tell the tale of John Farrell. Should be an interesting year though. Big pressure on Price to improve on last, his injury isn't a very good start. I think Chris Sale will be immense for the ball club, best signing in years.
  13. I've been questioning the necessity of having divisions...I think there should be one division in each league. The top four teams in each make the playoffs. Makes for a better balanced schedule as well. What is the point of a division?
  14. We should trade Pedroia and Castillo for starting pitching, and call up Moncada.
  15. On pace for his best ever season. Amazing stuff.
  16. Maybe we can showcase Castillo and package him too...
  17. Every player is tradable at all times.
  18. It's really starting to sink in now that Papi is going to be calling it a career. His tantrum the other night just solidifies his legacy as having nothing but pure heart for the game, the Red Sox and the fans. I'm 45 years old, so I've witnessed a decent chunk of Red Sox history. If someone were to ask me to put a face to the ball club, it would have to be David Ortiz. I've never seen a more magnanimous local athlete than Big Papi. Maybe Bobby Orr rivals him, but no one else. So much charisma and humor and positivity, and RESULTS, especially the clutch results, in pressure situations. We are living history guys, take a minute to reflect on it. One day we'll be the old timers who tell their great grandkids all about the legend of David "Big Papi" Ortiz. What will you always remember about Big Papi and where do you think he fits in the Red Sox pantheon?
  19. Welcome back Christian Vazquez! Really pleased his recovery went so well, he is our Yadier Molina, IMO, at least defensively. Let's go, Red Sox!
  20. I hope there's something in this James Shields rumor. We need a legit number 2, and he eats innings like I eat pussy.
  21. I agree, but my cynical nature views the whole concept as one big unnecessary marketing scheme.
  22. Ticket prices are an outrage, concessions alone will cost a family of 4 about $75, maybe more. The way they shut off Yawkey Way is kind of an affront to people of Boston or the area who might want to go down and soak up the pre game atmosphere without necessarily buying tickets and going to the game itself. It's a city street, it does not belong to them. I also dislike the "America's Most Beloved Ballpark" banner they drape outside the park. A Cubs fan doesn't think that's accurate, and I'm sure a Yankees fan doesn't too. It's arrogance and not very classy. Fenway Park speaks for itself, it doesn't need to be "marketed". /rant over
