  1. Mike Maddux would be a great choice, in my opinion
  2. I hope you're right.
  3. You clearly don't understand the significance of what it means to wear the Red Sox uniform.
  4. The players on the Red Sox get paid millions of dollars a year to not only play hard and do their best to win games, but to represent the ball club, the fans and the city in a positive light. Theirs is a public profession, and they get held to a high standard, as they should, and as their paychecks would seem to require. But there has been a growing disconnect between the players and the public for a few years now, and it's reached a boiling point. They are worse than clueless, they are outwardly contemptuous of the fans and their own obligation as ambassadors of a century old tradition. Even the "25 cabs, 25 players" teams from the 80's weren't as despised as these guys are.
  5. 2 Latino players showed up. That kind of blows your theory out of the water.
  6. The whole point is that there shouldn't have to be a mandate...
  7. That's a load of horse s***. You don't know me from a ham sandwich, so keep your bogus psychoanalysis to yourself.
  8. I'd say it's a something story when the front office provides a fleet of busses for players and their families, and only 4 of them show up! It's a disgrace
  9. The front office had busses available for players and family to drive up to Swampscott, but only Papi, Buchholz, Padilla and Salty showed up. I'm at a loss for words. http://bostonherald.com/track/inside_track/view.bg?articleid=1061155131&format=comments&cnum=1
  10. By the way, I keep seeing ESPN running a clip of Valentine and Pedroia in the dugout, where BV looks like he leans in and kisses DP on the cheek, and then PD starts yammering away with a intense/angry look on his face...anyone know what that was about?
  11. I have a bad feeling that Pedroia has peaked, and it's all downhill from here. He's already well off last year's pace...add to that his high strung nature and the chip on his shoulder as evidenced by his ever-expanding mouthpiece...his time could be up in Boston. If we're going to overhaul the team, then we should get drastic. Trade him and get value while we can, I say.
  12. The whole thing is a mess, and blame can and should be spread around in equal measure, in my opinion. Henry and Werner are clueless weirdos, LL is at heart a megalomaniacal control freak, Cherington is a gutless puppet, Valentine is a motormouth whose time has passed, and the players are a bunch of pampered, entitled, underperforming *******s. Losing Johnny Pesky this week puts this s*** show in it's proper perspective. For the FIRST time in my 33 years supporting this ball club I'm EMBARRASSED to be a Red Sox fan. This season can't end quick enough.

  14. I bet we'd have got Ogando and Cruz
  15. Tex looks like a cross eyed retard in the batter's box. Padilla uses the oil that drips from his hair to soften his glove. These two secretly have a boner for each other I bet.
  16. Silly: http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/8141966/boston-red-sox-vicente-padilla-says-new-york-yankees-mark-teixeira-better-women-sport
  17. The medical staff need to be sacked, from the top doc, down to the massage guy. He should have been properly assessed 10 months ago, and been operated on then. Total farce.
  18. As for Philly being a rival...it exists, but it's somewhat muted, because the Eagles and Phillies are not really team rivals at all. There is hatred between Bruins and Flyers fans, but even that is less than it could be because we play in different divisions. The Celtics-Sixers had a thing going in the 80's, but not so much anymore. On the whole though, there exists a natural animosity between the cities because of geography, and the fact that we view them as New York's idiot little brother....
  19. I think what's strange for people is someone from the Deep South adopting 3 Boston teams as their own...but the more the merrier, as they say. And nobody will hold it against you for supporting the Eagles. Now, if you were born and raised up here, people might look at you funny for liking them. But, (dirty little local secret)....long before the Patriots (Est. 1960) sprung to life, most hardcore football fans rooted for the nearest team around, the New York cough Giants! And of course, for 2 generations, there were two baseball clubs here, and if you speak to some old timers, they might even admit to being Braves fans when they were young. You'll have to make the pilgrimage up north and take in some games!
  20. Looking likely that he'll walk at the end of the year..
  21. http://news.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/red_sox/index.php/2012/06/21/david-ortiz-on-external-negativity-around-red-sox-im-tired-of-dealing-with-the-drama-here/
  22. I really don't know, who? BV?
